NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Thursday, May 9
Who is your favorite player to spend up for in cash games?
Notorious: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
squirrelpatrol: Jayson Tatum
headChopper: Derrick White
Who is your top contrarian play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
Notorious: Donovan Mitchell – There’s a good chance the Cavaliers get blown out again in Game 2, but we have to love the usage that Mitchell has shown the last 3 games. During that stretch, he has taken 25, 27, and 36 shot attempts, respectively. Even though the Cavaliers sat their starters for much of the 4th quarter in Game 1, Mitchell still finished the game with 51 fantasy points. He’s an excellent tournament option once again.
squirrelpatrol: Luke Kornet – This is a bit off the board, but even with Kristaps Porzingis out, the Celtics seem reluctant to increase the minutes for Al Horford into the 30s. As a result, Horford’s price is affordable, but that should lead to high ownership on a limited player. Kornet is the beneficiary, playing most of the time that Horford is off the court. Kornet has played over 39 minutes combined the last 2 games with Porzingis out, and he pulled down 17 rebounds along with 6 points and 3 blocks.
headChopper: Luka Doncic – In a vacuum, there is not a better fantasy player on this slate than Luka, and it’s not even close. He was, arguably, the best DFS option for the entire season, and if not, then he is at least in that small tier 1 of players. Yet, on a very small 2-game slate, his pOWN% is trending towards 25%-35% on both sites. It’s a huge game for the Mavs, and he has had success against this team this season. There are ways to fit his salary in with multiple salary savers spanning across all 4 teams. There’s even the Boston blowout angle you could play when it comes to choosing salary savers.
