NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Thursday, October 24

Who is your favorite player to spend up for in cash games?

Notorious: Jayson Tatum
SquirrelPatrol: Victor Wembanyama (FD) / Jayson Tatum (DK)
headChopper: Victor Wembanyama (FD) / Jayson Tatum (DK)
Dean78904: Jayson Tatum

What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

Notorious: I love small-field and single-entry tournaments. As it stands right now (around 2:00 PM ET), we have Victor Wembanyama projected for 14% ownership on DraftKings and 21% ownership on FanDuel. He was tremendous on a per-minute basis last season and is projected for 33 minutes tonight. I plan to use him in my main lineup.

SquirrelPatrol: I’ll play the largest-field tournaments, going with more of a stars-and-scrubs strategy than the field. I’ll go over the field on some of the very cheap value plays, like Bub Carrington, Julian Strawther, and Kyshawn George, while using that value to get over the field on some lower-pOWN% spend-ups, like Nikola Jokic and Victor Wembanyama.

headChopper: I’ll play 20 lineups in large-field GPPs. The size of the slate matters, and with only 4 games in the NBA, it’s relatively small. So, I will be going overweight on certain players like Kyrie Irving (that list is TBD until closer to tip-off). When I say overweight on a 4-gamer, that means some guys I’ll roster on 70%+ of my lineups. On a slate of ~8 games or more, that top number is closer to 40%.

Dean78904: My favorite contests to enter are single-entry and 3-entry-max tournaments. In those contests, inevitably, the chalk gets even higher, so if you can identify the chalk and get away from it successfully, it can be a huge edge. I like Jayson Tatum plenty, and I certainly wouldn’t label him as a “bad” play, but he currently projects to be heavily owned. Absolutely play him in your cash games, but currently, my plan is to tell the story of a Boston blowout and move away from Tatum in single-entry contests. I expect to focus on game stacks (OKC/DEN and SAS/DAL) with most, if not all, of my players coming from those 2 games. Assuming the sub-20% pOWN% of Luka Doncic holds, I love him as my main build-around piece.

Who is your favorite play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?
