Core Plays LIVE will zoom out on the slate as a whole, zoom in on the best plays, and constantly update as news breaks. Whether you are diving into the slate 5 hours before it starts or 5 minutes before it starts, you’ve come to the right place.
Happy Friday!
It’s felt like Friday for each of the last 3 days, so I’m happy that the actual Friday is finally here. I’m also happy that the NBA trade deadline is in the rearview mirror, as there was far too much going on over the last few days. Tonight’s slate is going to feel like a breeze after what we’ve dealt with the last couple of slates. There are only 6 games on the schedule. DraftKings has decided to leave the final 2 games off their main slate, while FanDuel is rolling out the full 6-game slate.
The Super Bowl is officially 2 days away. We have a ton of great content here at RotoGrinders, so make sure to check all of it out if you are playing DFS. We also have a ton of bets for the big game up on ScoresAndOdds. I don’t have a rooting interest yet, but I’m sure that will change once I make a wager or two on the game.
Cheers to the weekend. Let’s dive into the games.

News Updates
1:10 PM ET
Karl-Anthony Towns is now doubtful. This makes Jalen Brunson and Mitchell Robinson strong options against the Pistons. OG Anunoby is questionable, while Josh Hart is now expected to play.
Team Previews

New York Knicks (at DET)
We kick off tonight’s slate with the Knicks, who travel to Detroit to take on the Pistons. We usually don’t have the best game environments when either of these teams is involved, so it’s no surprise that both of these teams have low team totals. Miles McBride and Guerschon Yabusele are out, while Josh Hart and Karl-Anthony Towns are questionable.
If the Knicks are at full strength, they’ll be an easy team to avoid on tonight’s slate. However, we could have minutes on the wing and/or in the frontcourt open up with Hart and KAT both questionable. Let’s see who benefits the most with KAT off the floor:

Jalen Brunson becomes a strong play if KAT sits, as he has seen a sizable FP/min. boost. Mitchell Robinson would also slide into the starting lineup and see an uptick in minutes. It’s a better matchup than usual, as Jalen Duren is unlikely to suit up.
Detroit Pistons (vs. NYK)
The Pistons are playing on the second half of a back-to-back after losing to the Wizards at home last night. They have a much tougher matchup this evening, as the Knicks are 4th in rebounding rate and 7th in points allowed per game. Detroit’s team total is 5 points lower than their season average. We don’t have their injury report yet, but they will likely be without Jalen Duren. Cade Cunningham and Tobias Harris are dealing with injuries, so we’ll have to keep an eye on their availability.
If Duren is indeed out, Paul Reed and Isaiah Stewart would both see an uptick in playing time. Reed has played well in spot starts throughout his career, while Stewart has flashed upside in games that Duren has missed this season. Ronald Holland could also pick up a few extra minutes in Duren’s absence. He started the second half of last night’s game. For the rest of the Pistons, we’ll have to take a wait-and-see approach. If Cunningham is out, the Pistons become a stackable team, especially on DraftKings.
