Core Plays LIVE: NBA DFS Picks for Saturday, March 28th

Johnson of the Hawks

A daily fantasy sports OG, Notorious has been roaming the DFS streets ever since they were invented. He has racked up multiple live final seats and several six-figure tournament wins in his DFS career. On weekends, Taylor Smith takes the reins. So, who better to walk you through the madness of NBA DFS slates on DraftKings and FanDuel? Core Plays LIVE will zoom out on the slate as a whole, zoom in on the best plays, and constantly update as news breaks. Whether you are diving into the slate 5 hours before it starts or 5 minutes before, you’ve come to the right place.

Hello, and welcome to Saturday. My car needs an oil change, so I have to initiate my shameful ritual of going to Valvoline and pretending I know anything about cars. The best part is when the friendly mechanic shows you the stick, and you have to nod approvingly. Sure, man, looks fantastic. And we both know I have no idea what I’m looking at, and he knows I have no idea, and yet here we are, nodding together like two guys who absolutely know about sticks.

Anyway, we’re officially in the latter stages of the NBA’s regular season. Most teams across the leagues have about 10 games left, and we’re looking at a light schedule on this fine Saturday. Of course, because we can’t have nice things, DraftKings and FanDuel have vastly different main dockets.

FD’s main slate is a 4-gamer tipping off early at 5:30 PM ET. DK’s 3-game slate starts at 7:30, and the sites share just 2 games.

As always, I’m here to break it all down leading up to lock. Let’s go!

Team Previews

Duren of the Pistons

Detroit Pistons (at MIN)

The Pistons infamously lost approximately 30 consecutive games just a couple of seasons ago, but look at them now. They’re sitting alone atop the Eastern Conference, 4 games clear of the 2nd-seeded Celtics with the playoffs on the horizon. Detroit is also 8-2 over their last 10 games despite playing a few of those contests without Cade Cunningham, who’s still out for tonight’s game in Minnesota. Jalen Duren, Tobias Harris, Duncan Robinson, and Ausar Thompson are all questionable, while Isaiah Stewart is out. Despite a host of injuries, Detroit is only a 3.5-point underdog on the road in this one.

With 4 starters carrying Q tags, there isn’t much to break down at the moment. Duren ($8,500) has been on a tear since Cade went down. His matchup against Rudy Gobert is far from ideal, but he’s still easy to prioritize on a slate with no one priced north of $10,000 besides Jalen Johnson. Guys like Robinson, Thompson, and Harris will gain some appeal if one or two of them sit. The other headliner here is Daniss Jenkins, who’s averaging a solid 0.97 FP/minute on the season with Cunningham and Stewart off the court. It’s wild to see Jenkins’ $7,700 salary, but he’s been exceptional all season whenever he’s gotten the chance to start.

Kevin Huerter, Ronald Holland, Marcus Sasser, and Caris LeVert are players who may emerge as viable values depending on the injury news. I’ll provide updated analysis in News Updates once we have clarity on the injury report.
