NBA DFS Core Plays LIVE: Thursday, October 26th
A daily fantasy sports OG, Notorious has been roaming the DFS streets ever since they were invented. He has racked up multiple live final seats and several six-figure tournament wins in his DFS career, and Noto will mix it up in all different types of contests. So, who better to walk you through the madness of an NBA DFS slate? Core Plays LIVE will zoom out on the slate as a whole, zoom in on the best NBA DFS picks, and constantly update as news breaks. Whether you are diving into the slate 5 hours before it starts or 5 minutes before it starts, you’ve come to the right place.
Happy Thursday and happy birthday to my little one. We are all about narrative street for NBA players, but we don’t often consider narrative street for ourselves. Clearly, his birthday will bring all of us at RotoGrinders some luck.
While I could have used a little more from Jaren Jackson and Evan Mobley, it was an easy cash for my main lineup last night. I was quite surprised with a lot of the ownership percentages, which goes to show that the start of each season is extremely difficult to predict. A shoutout to the RotoGrinders projections team is certainly in order for all of the work that they put into each slate.
It feels like the NBA is just teasing us at this point. We get a two-game slate, a 12-game slate, a two-game slate, and then an 11-game slate to open the season. I think I speak for everyone when I say a five-to-eight game slate each night would be much preferable, but I won’t complain about having NBA back in our lives. Let’s dive into tonight’s two-game slate.

Team Previews
Philadelphia 76ers (at MIL): There are only two teams in the association that have yet to play their first game of the season and they square off tonight in Milwaukee. It didn’t take long for the Sixers drama to make its way into the timeline, as James Harden was away from the team for 10 days and trade rumors have been swirling. He won’t be active for their opener, which means Tyrese Maxey, De’Anthony Melton, and Patrick Beverley should be the primary ball-handlers in the offense.
Here is a quick recap of who benefitted the most with Harden off the floor last season:
As far as the roster goes, the only changes were ones to add depth off the bench. They brought in Beverley and Kelly Oubre, which should really help over the course of a long season. The Sixers have their win total set at 48.5, which puts them in contention for one of the top four seeds in the Eastern Conference. Tonight they square off against the Bucks, who should play at a fast pace again this year.
Joel Embiid stands out as the best RG Value from the Sixers tonight and is one of the top spends of the slate. I certainly don’t mind mixing in Maxey, who clearly sees a major uptick in usage and FP/min production with Harden off the floor. I don’t mind mixing in Tobias Harris, Melton, and Paul Reed in large-field tournaments, but they are unlikely to make the final cut in my main lineup.
