I’m manifesting a big week for myself and for the RG community. Let’s have ourselves a week at the biggest event of the year so far.

If you are here for the NBA content, don’t worry, I still have you covered. We have 6 games on the schedule, and all 6 games are included on the main slates for DraftKings and FanDuel. This is a slate that doesn’t have a ton of value, but perhaps that will change throughout the day.

Let’s dive into the team previews.

Team Previews

Mitchell of the Cavaliers

Cleveland Cavaliers (at ORL)

The Cavaliers head to Orlando to take on the Magic, who are 18th in pace and 11th in points allowed per game. Cleveland’s team total is 115 points, which is 4 points lower than their season average. This is a middling environment that doesn’t offer much in the way of pace or fantasy upside. Jarrett Allen has been ruled out.

I’ve had a tough time trusting James Harden and Donovan Mitchell when they’ve both been active. They cut into each other’s usage and per-minute upside. This is about as mediocre of a matchup as you are going to find, so I won’t be prioritizing either Cleveland guard. Evan Mobley is my favorite target here. He has played 31 minutes in 2 of the last 3 games, so he’s close to being back to his usual allotment of minutes. He sees a small boost with Allen out, and he’s not overly expensive. With a lack of value, you can include the likes of Dean Wade, Dennis Schroder, Keon Ellis, and Sam Merrill in your MME builds.

Orlando Magic (vs. CLE)

The Magic host the Cavaliers at home in what projects as a slower-paced affair with Cleveland, which is 12th in pace and 14th in points allowed. Orlando’s team total is 112 points, which is 3 points lower than their season average. The one positive angle here is that the Cavs are vulnerable from beyond the arc, ranking 28th in three-point percentage allowed. Anthony Black and Franz Wagner are out.

Jalen Suggs has averaged 32 fantasy points over his last 4 games and should continue to benefit with Wagner and Black out. Desmond Bane has seen the biggest usage and FP/min. boosts with those two off the floor this season and has topped 40 fantasy points in back-to-back games. Paolo Banchero has quietly topped 47 fantasy points in 5 of his last 7 games. He never seems to get the attention that he deserves in DFS, making him one of the top tournament spends on the slate. Thanks to the injuries, Tristan da Silva has a path to 30 minutes at a cheap price point. Jevon Carter is a decent punt as well, given the lack of value on the slate. Wendell Carter Jr. is a decent lineup filler.
