NBA Player Props — Thursday, March 3rd

DeMar DeRozan, Chicago Bulls at Atlanta Hawks: OVER 30.5 Points

Monday in Miami marked the first time in 11 games that DeRozan failed to score 31 points, and I’m betting that he starts a new 31-point streak tonight. The Hawks are nowhere near as efficient defensively as the Heat, and DeRozan has operated with machine-like precision with his midrange game. In Chicago’s three meetings with Atlanta so far this season, the veteran has scored 35, 20, and 37 points respectively. Bank on the MVP candidate once again filling it up.

Robert Williams, BOS vs. MEM: OVER 23.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists

RWIII has enjoyed a breakout season, perhaps even befitting of inclusion in the Most Improved Player conversation. And, lucky for Celtics fans, he has kicked it into high gear since the New Year. He’s regularly seeing 31-35 minutes per game, which has translated into fantastic counting stats. He has finished each of the past two months with averages of nearly 11 rebounds and over two assists per game. He scored 11.1 points per game in the month of February, and he’s averaging 10.9 points over his past ten games. With Boston’s No. 2 scoring option Jaylen Brown out with an ankle injury, the Celtics have a hole to the tune of 23/6/3 to fill. Williams should see a short-term spike in usage and volume, and he should be highly motivated in a nationally-televised contest with Ja Morant and the young-gunning Grizzlies.

LeBron James, LAL vs. LAC: UNDER 29.5 Points

The Lakers seem to be teetering around rock-bottom, and LeBron looks to be some combination of injured, disgruntled, and/or exhausted. The four-time MVP has failed to reach 30 points in five of the Lakers’ last eight games, and he has yet to top 23 points against the Clippers this season. Defenses can key in on LBJ and not get punished for it as bad as when Anthony Davis is healthy and Russell Westbrook is shooting well. Newsflash: AD is hurt, and Russ couldn’t find the ocean if he fell off a canoe. Whether or not you consider LeBron the GOAT, he’s in one of the worst situations of his career – now is not the time to pick him for any OVERs.

Ivica Zubac, LAC vs. LAL: OVER 22.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists

Zu has come through like Wu-Tang in the 90s, bangin’ down low and gettin’ real grimy. Sorry, I don’t know where that came from, but you get the point (don’t you?). Zubac has probably felt a little pressure from strong backup center Isaiah Hartenstein, and he’s responding with stellar play of his own. The fifth-year center has logged double-doubles in four of the Clippers’ last five games, and he’s put up 36 total points and 27 total boards across LA’s last two games. That’s an average of 18 points and 13.5 rebounds! And all we need is 23 points + rebounds + assists… against a squad with no true center in the latest iteration of its starting lineup? Sounds like a gimme to me.

Cade Cunningham, DET vs. TOR: OVER 27.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists

The No. 1 pick has been rolling lately, putting up at least 19 points in four of Detroit’s last five games. He’s also rebounding and dishing the rock well as of late, with Duane Casey and company appearing to finally realize he’s the best player on the team. If you put together points, rebounds, and assists in each of Cunningham’s last five games, he has averaged 32.4 over that span. He’ll be playing big minutes against a scrappy Toronto squad, and the Raptors will be without defensive stud O.G. Anunoby. Fire up the MotorCade, and have a fun Thrive Thursday!
