On Friday night, the NBA Play-In Tournament will conclude with a 2-game slate, beginning at 7:00 PM ET on ESPN with a matchup between the Bulls and Heat. Following the conclusion of that contest, the Kings and Pelicans will fight to determine who gets the final playoff position in the Western Conference. The game will be broadcast on TNT.

Ahead of tip-off this evening, Jimmy Butler has been ruled out for Miami and Zion Williamson has been ruled out for New Orleans. As a result, there are plenty of shifting dynamics related to rotations, and thus, what to expect from many role players.

NBA Player Props Today – Friday, April 19, 2024

Tyler Herro Over/Under 6.5 Assists
DeMar DeRozan Over/Under 26.5 Points
Larry Nance Over/Under 12.5 Points + Rebounds

Tyler Herro Over/Under 6.5 Assists

Tyler Herro gets an extremely favorable matchup against the Bulls, a team that allowed the 4th-most assists per game to guards following the All-Star Break. Still, this market number is likely too high.

Herro had 9 assists in Wednesday’s loss against the 76ers, but he had only 10 potential assists. This season, Herro has only eclipsed this market number 2 times in 14 games with Jimmy Butler inactive. Both of those times, Herro landed on exactly 7 assists. According to CourtIQ, Herro averaged only 6.6 assists per 36 minutes of action without both Butler and Terry Rozier on the court from January 24th to the end of the regular season.

In a playoff atmosphere where defensive intensity will be heightened and the pace is likely to be slowed down, the under makes sense here.

DeMar DeRozan Over/Under 26.5 Points

DeMar DeRozan scored 22 points on 19 field goal attempts against the Hawks earlier this week. His 19 shot attempts ranked 3rd on his own team, behind Nikola Vucevic and Coby White. DeRozan is likely to play 40+ minutes again tonight against the Heat, but this market number is simply too high from a probabilistic perspective.

Even without Zach LaVine, DeRozan eclipsed this market number in only 26 of 55 games during the regular season. Miami has capable defenders all over the floor but especially around the rim and in the mid-range, which is where the majority of DeRozan shot attempts come from.

Larry Nance Over/Under 12.5 Points + Rebounds

Larry Nance had 10 points and 12 rebounds on Tuesday against the Lakers, but it’s really difficult to imagine him replicating that performance tonight against the Kings. Following the All-Star Break, Sacramento ranked 9th in defensive rating and 5th in rebound percentage.

Nance has recorded more than 12 points + rebounds only once in 9 games with Zion Williamson inactive this season. Even after a good game earlier this week, it’s doubtful that he gives New Orleans much production in this spot.
