NBA Player Props Today – Friday, December 15, 2023

Joel Embiid Over/Under 34.5 Points

Is there a player in the NBA that stat-pads against inferior opponents more successfully than Joel Embiid? In 10 games against teams with a below .500 record this season, Embiid is averaging 37.3 points per game. He has scored at least 35 points five times in those games and has only one game with fewer than 32 points – a night in which he still took 22 shot attempts, but made only eight field goals. Embiid had 41 points against the Pistons on Wednesday and is well-positioned for another dominant showing this evening. Detroit ranks 26th in defensive efficiency, 20th in opponent free throw attempts per game, and has allowed the 2nd-most field goal attempts per game in the paint during the last month of action. Embiid should have every opportunity to get the job done here to begin the weekend.

Kevin Durant Over/Under 5.5 Rebounds

Kevin Durant is averaging 6.5 rebounds per game this season, but his opportunities on the glass have been diminishing in recent weeks. Since November 29, Durant is averaging only 4.6 rebounds on 7.4 rebound chances per contest. Playing alongside Bradley Beal and Devin Booker on Wednesday, Durant had only seven rebound chances, which is not enough volume for him to consistently convert six or more actual rebounds. At plus money, this is great value against a New York team that is among the best in the league on the glass.

Daniel Gafford Over/Under 10.5 Points

Daniel Gafford is averaging only 10.1 points per game for the season, but his offensive contributions have slowly been rising throughout the course of the year – averaging 8.0 points in October, 9.5 points in November, and 13.0 points in four games to begin December. Tonight, he has an extremely favorable matchup against a Pacers team that ranks 28th in defensive efficiency and 1st in pace across the last month of action. During that stretch, Indiana has allowed the 4th-most field goal attempts per game in the restricted area, which is where Gafford attempts nearly all of his shots. This is a good spot to trust the big man in the middle for Washington.
