NBA Player Props Today – Friday, January 31, 2025
- Kristaps Porzingis Over/Under 28.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists
- Tyrese Maxey Over/Under 30.5 Points
- Scottie Barnes Over/Under 23.5 Points
Kristaps Porzingis OVER 28.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-115, bet365)
Facing New Orleans has been a dream matchup for centers during the month of January. Since the new year, the Pelicans rank 21st in opponent field goal percentage, 20th in rebounds allowed per game, and 19th in assists allowed per game to the position. According to props.cash, 16 of 21 centers to have a PRA line available against New Orleans have gone over that number during that time period. Porzingis has recorded 29+ PRA in 7 of 12 road games this season, including 7 of 10 such games when playing 25+ minutes. Assuming a somewhat competitive game script, the math certainly favors the over.
Tyrese Maxey UNDER 30.5 Points (-110, bet365)
Maxey enters play having scored 30+ points in each of his last 3 games, tying a career high for most consecutive such games. Maxey is likely to have a difficult time extending that streak tonight, facing a Denver defense that just saw him a week ago.
One of the primary challenges for NBA defenses during the regular season is a lack of time to do extensive scouting and game-planning on upcoming opponents due to the frequency of games and limited time to practice. To some extent, those challenges are mitigated when facing the same team twice in a narrow window of time.
Maxey has scored more than 30 points in only 5 of 14 games this season in which both Joel Embiid and Paul George have been unavailable, including only 3 of 10 home games. It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Nuggets devote some extra resources towards Maxey, making it difficult for him to continue his recent run of success scoring the basketball.
Scottie Barnes UNDER 23.5 Points (-125, DraftKings)
Immanuel Quickley appears to be trending towards a return to the floor tonight, which could mean a reduced presence on the offensive end of the court for Barnes. This season, Barnes has scored 24+ points in only 2 of 7 games in which Quickley has played. According to CourtIQ, Barnes is averaging only 21.5 points per 36 minutes this season with Quickley on the floor. Chicago’s defense leaves much to be desired, but this is simply a tall number for Barnes on a Toronto offense that all of a sudden has a lot of mouths to feed with the team’s health improving.
