NBA Player Props Today – Monday, April 22, 2024

Donovan Mitchell Over/Under 4.5 Assists
Jalen Brunson Over/Under 30.5 Points
D’Angelo Russell Over/Under 16.5 Points

Donovan Mitchell Over/Under 4.5 Assists

Donovan Mitchell has played at least 35 minutes in 17 home games this season, and he’s recorded at least 5 assists in 16 of those contests. The one exception was on Saturday afternoon in Game 1 against the Magic. Mitchell had only 3 assists and 7 potential assists, but one has to believe that is likely an outlier performance.

Orlando was a tough matchup for opposing guards down the stretch, allowing the 4th-fewest potential assists per game to opposing guards. However, this market number is more than accounting for the tough matchup and is likely too low.

In April alone, the Magic have allowed 6 assists to Coby White, 8 assists to Darius Garland, 6 assists to Patrick Beverley, 9 assists to Damian Lillard, 6 assists to Fred VanVleet, 9 assists to Vasilije Micic, and 9 assists to Scoot Henderson. Dalano Banton, Tre Mann, and Jalen Green have each posted 5 assists against Orlando in recent weeks.

Jalen Brunson Over/Under 30.5 Points

Jalen Brunson scored only 22 points in Game 1 against the 76ers, but his low output wasn’t due to a lack of opportunity. Brunson took 26 shot attempts in that game, which was 14 more than any other player on the New York roster. Dating back to the final stretch of the regular season, Brunson has attempted at least 23 shots in 7 consecutive contests.

Brunson has played at least 37 minutes in 19 home games this season, and he’s scored at least 31 points in 13 of those games. He’s scored at least 31 points in 4 of 6 home games in which he’s played at least 40 minutes.

On Monday evening, Brunson should be in line for another significant workload. He is likely to have every chance to put up big numbers as the Knicks look to take a commanding 2-0 series lead.

D’Angelo Russell Over/Under 16.5 Points

Nobody wants to bet on D’Angelo Russell after he shot 6-for-20 from the field on Saturday in a Game 1 loss to the Nuggets. Yet, the one thing that his inefficient night from the field showed us is that he’s likely to have plenty of opportunities to shoot the rock in this opening round.

Russell struggled with his efficiency on the road this season, but he still shot 42.6% from the field and 38% from beyond the arc in those games. He’s unquestionably better than what he showed in Game 1.

In 11 road games this season (min. 35 minutes played) with LeBron James and Anthony Davis active, Russell has scored at least 17 points 8 times. He’s a good candidate for a bounce-back performance this evening.
