NBA Player Props Today – Thursday, January 9, 2025
- Bam Adebayo Over/Under 17.5 Points
- Desmond Bane Over/Under 19.5 Points
- Malik Beasley Over/Under 15.5 Points
Bam Adebayo OVER 17.5 Points (-110, DraftKings)
Jimmy Butler remains out tonight for Miami, which should afford Bam Adebayo plenty of opportunities on the offensive end of the floor once again. According to RotoGrinders CourtIQ, Adebayo is averaging 17.5 points per 36 minutes this season with Butler off of the floor. He has scored 18+ points in 7 of his last 12 games with Butler inactive.
Tonight, Adebayo gets a favorable matchup against Utah, a team that has struggled to defend around the rim of late. Across their last 10 games, they have allowed the most field goal attempts per game within 8 feet of the basket, which is where Adebayo takes nearly half of his shots. The Jazz like to push the pace as well, which could afford Adebayo slightly more volume in this spot, with each team likely having a few extra possessions on the offensive end of the floor.
Desmond Bane UNDER 19.5 Points (-130, Bally)
Ja Morant is officially listed as questionable for this evening’s tilt against the Rockets, but he seems to be trending toward suiting up after missing the team’s last 5 contests. Though Morant returning to action is likely to be a net positive for the Grizzlies, it could diminish the role of Desmond Bane in the team’s offense.
This season, Bane has scored 20+ points in only 3 of 16 games in which Morant has played. On Thursday, Bane has the added difficulty of facing a Houston team that ranks 11th in defensive rating and 24th in pace across their last 10 games. The Rockets also do a good job chasing players off of the 3-point line, which could limit Bane’s volume from deep in this matchup. Assuming Morant plays, the math favors the under.
Malik Beasley OVER 15.5 Points (-130, BetMGM)
Malik Beasley has played at least 29 minutes in each of Detroit’s last 5 games and appears to be locked into a sizable role following the injury to Jaden Ivey.
According to RotoGrinders CourtIQ, Beasley is averaging 20.7 points per 36 minutes with Ivey off of the floor this season. Beasley has scored at least 23 points in 5 of 7 games in which Ivey has missed, including 3 of 5 such home games.
The Warriors have been a highly erratic team of late on both ends of the floor. There is the potential for Beasley to have another strong showing. At a minimum, we know he is likely to have good volume, giving him plenty of opportunities to deliver for bettors.
