NBA Player Props Today – Wednesday, February 14, 2024

Bam Adebayo Over/Under 4.5 Assists

Jimmy Butler has been granted a leave of absence from the Heat due to a death in the family, and though his length of absence remains unclear, it seems likely that he will be inactive again this evening. When Butler is out of the lineup, Bam Adebayo takes on significantly more responsibility as a facilitator for Miami – averaging 4.8 assists per 36 minutes, compared to 3.9 assists per 36 minutes of action with Butler on the floor. Since Kyle Lowry last played for the Heat, Adebayo is averaging 5.1 assists per 36 minutes with Butler off of the court.

Adebayo finished last night’s game with a team-high 11 assists and 16 potential assists – the latter of which was double that of his next-closest teammate. Adebayo had only 7 potential assists against the Celtics earlier in the week, but that was also with the now-injured Terry Rozier having 11 potential assists.

Tonight, Adebayo gets an extremely favorable matchup against a 76ers team that has struggled mightily to limit passing production from opposing centers since Joel Embiid went down. Adebayo should have every opportunity to get the job done for us in this spot.

Evan Mobley Over/Under 9.5 Rebounds

In 6 games to begin February, Evan Mobley has eclipsed this market number 5 times, but he has also faced an extremely favorable schedule during that stretch. The Spurs, Wizards, Nets, Raptors, and 76ers each rank 17th or worse in opponent rebounds allowed per game during February – with four of those teams ranking 20th or worse.

Tonight, Mobley gets a more difficult matchup against a Bulls team that has been surprisingly competent on the glass of late, ranking 12th in opponent rebounds per game this month. Chicago has been particularly tough on opposing forwards, allowing only 2 such players to amass more than 13 rebound chances against them since February 1.

Mobley is averaging 10.8 rebounds across his last 6 games but only 15.8 rebound chances during that stretch. His rebound chances are likely inflated slightly due to his recent run of opponents, and his 68.4% rebound conversion rate in that time period is significantly higher than his 58.1% rate from last year and higher than his 59.7% rate prior to getting injured in December.

There is value on the under here.

Max Strus Over/Under 1.5 Three-Pointers Made

Entering play on Wednesday, Max Strus has made multiple 3-pointers in 19 of 27 games he has played at home this season. Tonight, he gets a favorable matchup against a Bulls defense that has allowed more 3-point attempts than any other team in the league during the month of February. Chicago also ranks 17th in opponent 3-point percentage during that stretch, indicating that they are not doing a particularly good job defending all of those perimeter shot attempts. If Strus has at least 5 attempts from beyond the arc this evening, he should be able to deliver for us. The juice should be worth the squeeze.
