NBA Player Props Today – Wednesday, February 5, 2025

Trae Young UNDER 26.5 Points (-110, Bet365)

De’Aaron Fox is expected to make his San Antonio debut tonight, which could impact the team’s defense in a potentially negative way, but this is still a tall number for Young. Entering play, Young has scored 27+ points in only 17 of 46 games this season, including only 6 of 21 home games.

Young has scored 34 points in each of Atlanta’s last 2 games, with Jalen Johnson and Bogdan Bogdanovic unavailable. However, it’s worth noting that he took a combined 21 free throws in those games. The Spurs have allowed the fewest free throws per game in the NBA this season, which means Young is likely going to have to earn his points from the field. The under has some expected value.

Tyrese Maxey UNDER 32.5 Points (-130, BetMGM)

Maxey has continued to prove me wrong in recent games, but his line is once again extremely inflated ahead of tip-off on Wednesday. Maxey enters play having scored 30+ points in a career-best 6 consecutive games, but he’s been unsustainably efficient from the floor during that span, with a 50% field goal percentage or better in all but one of those contests.

Tonight, he will have to contend with a well-coached Miami team that has been tough on guards of late, holding them to the 4th-lowest field goal percentage and 6th-fewest 3-point attempts across their last 8 games. Maxey has gone under this number on zero days’ rest in 4 of 5 games that Joel Embiid has missed this season. Regression is coming for him sooner or later.

Jarrett Allen UNDER 14.5 Points (-128, FanDuel)

The majority of Allen’s shot attempts come from the restricted area, which makes tonight’s matchup against the Pistons a tough spot for him. Across their last 8 games, Detroit has been a top-10 defense in that area of the floor. There is also the fact that Allen has struggled away from home this season, scoring 15+ points in only 8 of 22 road contests, including only 4 of his last 17 such games. The math favors the under.
