New York Jets vs. Indianapolis Colts Prop Bets for Thursday Night Football

caesars-promo

Week 9 of the NFL season opens tonight with the New York Jets vs. Indianapolis Colts headlining Thursday Night Football. In the NFL, sides and totals are a saturated market, meaning that they are often completely stripped of their value by the time games kick off Instead of forcing action on big, efficient markets, NFL bettors can often find better value on player props.

With that said, let’s dive into the matchups between the Jets and the Colts and break down a few of my favorite player props for Thursday Night Football.

Packers vs. Cardinals Player Props

Carson Wentz o244.5 passing yards (-110)

Carson Wentz has not hit this threshold since throwing for 402 yards against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 5, but the game script tonight should change that tonight. Entering play, the New York Jets have allowed opposing signal callers to throw for 10 touchdowns against only 1 interception—good for a 102.9 passer rating. Yet, New York has been a top-10 defense against the run, measured by yards-per-carry. Indianapolis would be wise to look to the air early and often in this contest. Wentz has thrown for at least 223 yards six times in eight games this season. Expect the favorable matchup to be enough to get him an extra 20 yards to hit the over here.

Mike White o253.5 passing yards (-110)

Mike White threw for 405 yards last week against the Cincinnati Bengals—one of the better pass defenses in the NFL. Tonight, White has an opportunity for another strong performance against a Colts defense that has allowed the fifth-highest passer rating to opposing quarterbacks this year. Only the Atlanta Falcons, Washington Football Team, Detroit Lions, and Jacksonville Jaguars have been worse in pass coverage. An additional factor favoring White’s over in this one is the fact that Indianapolis is very strong against the run. New York is going to have trouble finding room to run on the ground tonight. White should have a very favorable game script, leading to well north of 253.5 passing yards in this one.

Jonathan Taylor – Anytime Touchdown Scorer (-200)

There is heavy juice on this play, but for good reason. Jonathan Taylor has scored a touchdown in five consecutive contests entering tonight’s action. He is the unquestioned alpha in the Colts backfield, totaling at least 15 touches in each of Indianapolis’ last five games. New York is solid on the ground on a yards-per-carry basis, but they are far from intimidating near the goal line, having allowed the second-most rushing touchdowns of any team in football this fall. Touchdown scoring is a volatile market, but it is hard to find a player with a better chance of finding pay dirt in this game than Taylor.

Michael Pittman – Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+105)

If bettors are looking for a more even-money play for Thursday Night Football, Michael Pittman is also worth a look as an anytime touchdown scorer. He has found the end zone in three of the team’s last four games, including a two touchdown performance last week against the Tennessee Titans. Pittman Jr. is clearly Wentz’s favorite target, totaling seven or more targets five times in 2021, and at least a dozen targets in three games. Pittman Jr. has an incredibly favorable matchup tonight against one of the worst secondary units in the league. At plus-money, this is a great value spot.
