Injuries are a big part of daily fantasy sports on DraftKings, FanDuel, and Yahoo. It’s also relevant when it comes to sports betting, specifically if you’re looking to find closing line value by betting on opening NFL lines.

NFL DFS requires us to know the status of every player, and it’s important that we keep tabs on them for a number of reasons. Each week in NFL DFS will undoubtedly bring new injuries to the forefront, and in this article we will look back and discuss how last week’s injuries will impact this week’s projections and projected ownership.

Today’s NFL DFS Top Injury Report from Week 6

Miles Sanders

NFL Team: Philadelphia Eagles
Position: RB
Injury Type: Knee
Next Week Status: TBD based on results of Monday’s MRI
Expected To Miss: TBD based on results of Monday’s MRI

Of the two injured Eagles (Sanders and Ertz), it sounds like Sanders’s is the more serious of the two. The Eagles have a quick turnaround, as they face the Giants on Thursday night. If Sanders is forced to miss time, Boston Scott would probably be the next man up in the backfield and is likely going to be very cheap across the industry. If you recall, Boston Scott Chalk Week did not go very well in Week 1 when Sanders was last out.

Zach Ertz

NFL Team: Philadelphia Eagles
Position: TE
Injury Type: Ankle
Next Week Status: TBD based on results of Monday’s MRI
Expected To Miss: TBD based on results of Monday’s MRI

The Eagles could be short their top two tight ends if Ertz’s ankle forces him to miss some time. Remember, Dallas Goedert has been out for a few weeks now with his own ankle injury, but it is worth noting that Goedert is eligible to return from the IR if his body allows him. If both Ertz and Goedert are out for Thursday night’s game against the Giants, then the Eagles could be looking at a lot of Richard Rogers at tight end, with guys like Jason Croom and/or Hakeem Butler filling in as well.

Raheem Mostert

NFL Team: San Francisco 49ers
Position: RB
Injury Type: Ankle
Next Week Status: TBD
Expected To Miss: TBD

After missing Week 3 and Week 4 with an MCL sprain, Mostert could be back on the shelf again with an ankle injury that he suffered in last night’s game against the Rams. If that is the case, Jerick McKinnon could be a nice source of salary relief on the Week 7 main slate. He is just $5,500 on FanDuel, $5,800 on DraftKings, and $16 on Yahoo.

With Mostert out those two weeks, McKinnon logged 62% of the running back snaps in Week 3 and then saw it tick all the way up to 92% in Week 4. He racked up 14 rushing attempts in each game—finding the end zone in both games too—and saw a total of 12 targets in the passing game.
