NFL DFS DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey (Afternoon Slate): Week 8 Picks

Who is your favorite player to spend up for in cash games?

headChopper: Puka Nacua
Stevietpfl: Puka Nacua
TJ Zwarych: Puka Nacua

How do you plan to beat the field of opponents in the tournaments you will be playing? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

headChopper: I think all three games are in play for different reasons, but I do believe two of them will be more defensively minded and lower-scoring events than the other. I’ll be overweight on the LAC/LAR game in general, especially the Chargers side of it. With some time off to regroup and heal up from injuries, I’m banking on them finding a little bit of offensive rhythm that they’ve been missing this season. So I’ll be overweight on various pieces of that offense, and I’ll certainly run it back with the Rams, who are pretty easy to pin down with so much of their usage concentrated among just a couple of players.

Stevietpfl: Even for a 3-game slate, we have a lot of decisions to make. With the pricing on both FD and DK, we can fit in a top-end running back and wide receiver. There is also some value with A.J. Brown, TreVeyon Henderson, and RJ Harvey already ruled out. I’m going to take a stand and be underweight on the KC/DEN game and overweight on the LAC/LAR and NE/MIA games. This is also one of the rare times I think you can play a QB and RB from the same team. I think Drake Maye with Rhamondre Stevenson, Matthew Stafford with Kyren Williams, and Bo Nix with J.K. Dobbins are all viable pairings on this smaller slate.

TJ Zwarych: I’ll be very heavy on Kenneth Walker III, who gets a sneakily good matchup against a Broncos team that is much better against the pass than they are the run. I’ll afford him by saving salary with the Patriots’ pass catchers. I’ll play two of Kyle Williams, DeMario Douglas, and Efton Chism, and I’ll mix in one of either Hunter Henry or Eli Raridon.

Who’s your favorite contrarian play and why?

Robert Brown (Epignosis)

Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
