squirrelpatrol: Joshua Dobbs, Javonte Williams, Courtland Sutton
Notorious: Courtland Sutton, T.J. Hockenson, Joshua Dobbs
TastefulTides: Javonte Williams, Courtland Sutton, T.J. Hockenson
TJ Zwarych: Joshua Dobbs, T.J. Hockenson, Courtland Sutton
What is your favorite game-script build and why?
squirrelpatrol: Both of these defenses have looked better recently, but I expect the Vikings can pull off the upset behind Joshua Dobbs. Dobbs has overperformed all season and has scored a rushing touchdown in 4 straight games (with 5 passing touchdowns in that span) across two different teams. I expect Javonte Williams to break off some long runs but Dobbs and Minnesota ultimately pull out the win.
Notorious: This is the toughest question for me in this game. I don’t have any strong takes on how the game is going to play out. I will note that both defenses are better than the public thinks. The Vikings are quietly 8th in total defensive DVOA, and the Broncos have held their last four opponents to an average of 17 points per game. I’m expecting a lower-scoring game, which could make kicking points and defensive points more valuable. So while I don’t have a strong take on the game script, I do like the idea of being overweight on the kickers and defenses.
TastefulTides: Overall, I think this game will be a relative snooze fest to start out with. Russell Wilson is just a game manager that will be handing the ball off a ton to Javonte Williams. I am not expecting a lot of scoing and would be surprised if there are over 40 points scored.
TJ Zwarych: I expect the Vikings to pull ahead early and lean heavily on the run game with Ty Chandler, as Alexander Mattison has missed most of the week with injury. They are expected to split the work tonight, but I think Chandler will take over the role as starter as the season progresses.
