Week 12 was one of the best weeks of the season for yours truly. The combination of Jameis Winston, Wan’Dale Robinson, Jahmyr Gibbs, and Emanuel Wilson was good enough to cash in almost any contest, regardless of how the rest of your lineup looked. In honor of John Stockton week, I hope I assisted you in some big scores as well. I did receive a couple of messages from RG members who had big weeks, so let’s try to keep it rolling in Week 13.

For the retired athlete in Week 13, we are calling this the Dan Marino week. The 1984 MVP and 2005 Hall of Fame inductee never won the Super Bowl, but he was one of the most accomplished quarterbacks ever. Here are a few quotes from “Mr. Cool” in his career:

“You have to feel you’re the best at what you do. You don’t have to come out and say it. But you have to know it within yourself.”

“I didn’t talk trash. I just made sure they knew I was better.”

I like these quotes. I genuinely believe that self-confidence goes a long way in anything you do, even playing DFS. When you are making confident decisions, you are less likely to second guess yourself and ultimately make the wrong decision. And who needs to trash talk if you can prove your ability?

Cheers to Marino week; let’s make it one to remember.

NFL DFS Top Picks & Plays: Noto’s Key Personnel for Week 13

Top Quarterback Plays

Tier 1 – Core Plays

Cardinals quarterback Brissett

Jacoby Brissett ($5,800 DK / $7,600 FD) has been nothing short of incredible for the Cardinals this season. He has scored at least 20 fantasy points in all 6 of his starts. His price is slowly climbing, but he’s still too cheap for his recent level of production. He draws an excellent matchup against the Buccaneers, who have been one of the best pass-funnel matchups in the NFL. They have allowed the 2nd-most fantasy points to quarterbacks. The best part about rostering Brissett is that he’s so easy to stack with, since almost all of his targets go to 2 wideouts in particular.

I have yet to roster Cam Ward ($4,600 DK / $6,400 FD) this season, but I have him tagged as a core play in Week 13. There are a lot of reasons why I think he’s a great play this week. Let’s start with roster construction — there’s not a ton of value on the slate, and the superstars are all priced at a premium. Next up is a home matchup against the Jaguars, who have allowed the 3rd-most fantasy points to quarterbacks. And finally, he is starting to flash some rushing upside. Over the last 2 games, he has 9 rushing attempts for 70 yards and a touchdown.

Tier 2 – Strong Plays

Bills quarterback Allen

If you can find some extra salary cap, Josh Allen ($7,500 DK / $9,400 FD) has slate-breaking upside at what should be reasonable ownership. He has scored at least 20 fantasy points in 9 of 11 games this season, so he offers one of the highest floors of any quarterback. He has also scored over 40 fantasy points in 2 games, so he offers one of the highest ceilings as well. He draws a nice matchup against the Steelers, who have allowed the 5th-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season.

After 6 straight wins for the Rams, Matthew Stafford ($7,000 DK / $8,000 FD) is now the odds-on favorite (-240) to win the MVP this season. He has had an incredible career, and the MVP is really the only thing he is missing. I get the feeling that the Rams are going to do everything in their power to win him the award. I mention this because the Rams are 10.5-point favorites this weekend. Typically, I would be concerned about the high spread and a run-heavy game script, but I expect the Rams to air it out even if they are playing with a big lead. It’s a good matchup, as the Panthers are 25th in EPA allowed per dropback this season.

Tier 3 – Sprinkle Plays

Jaguars quarterback Lawrence

Trevor Lawrence ($5,400 DK / $7,200 FD) is going to be popular this week because he’s cheap and draws a nice matchup against the Titans, who are 29th in EPA allowed per dropback. While I view him as a solid cash game option, I do worry about his ceiling. The Jaguars have gone to a run-heavy approach in recent weeks, which will likely be the case again here. They are 6.5-point favorites and facing one of the worst run defenses in the NFL.

C.J. Stroud ($5,000 DK / $6,800 FD) has cleared the concussion protocol and will be back in the lineup this week against the Colts. This is an important game for both teams, as they are both alive for the division title. Stroud has rushed for at least 20 yards in 6 of 8 games this season and has a nice cast of weapons at his disposal in the passing game. As 4.5-point underdogs on the road, we could see a pass-heavy game script for the Texans.
