In this space, we’ll look at exciting offers on the PrizePicks board for the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs and try to make some predictions based on projections, trends, and the market.

PrizePicks, a popular DFS app, lays out player projections for us to stack on a ticket for user-created entries. They prompt us with a statistical projection for a player, and we get to pick whether or not the player will get More or Less than the line offered. There are hundreds of players from whom to choose, and we only have to make at least two picks to create a contest.

If you haven’t tried it yet, use the PrizePicks promo codeRGNFL” to get a $50 bonus when any player in your entry records at least one yard this weekend.

For the upcoming games, we’ll turn to PrizePicks and see what usage, game flow, Vegas, and — of course — our projections can tell us about how players are likely to perform. We’ll look at passing, rushing, and receiving categories on the PrizePicks app, making a pick for three of the four games from this week’s NFL slate.

PrizePicks Top Plays for the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs

San Francisco 49ers vs. Green Bay Packers

Christian McCaffrey MORE/LESS Than 92.5 Rush Yards

The Niners are 9.5-point favorites at home and we have Christian McCaffrey projected for 103.4 rush yards. Don’t overthink this.

The Niners are a run-first offense, they’re huge favorites, and McCaffrey could have a snap rate over 90% in this one. He was over 85% in nine of 16 games this season — over 75% in all but three games.

To win an extra couple of units, I don’t personally hate his demon projecting of 124.5. It’s aggressive, but certainly doable to sprinkle around if you’re a larger volume player.

92.5 yards is a lot to demand, but McCaffrey averaged 91.2 per game this season in about 17 attempts. Seeing north of 20 this weekend on a high snap count is very much in the cards to smash the PrizePicks projection, as he averaged 105.7 yards per game in 16.3 carries over his last six games.

  • PLAY: McCaffrey MORE than 92.5 rush yards

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Detroit Lions

Baker Mayfield MORE/LESS than 256.5 pass yards

Detroit is the new New Orleans. Every game in that dome is giving us tons of fantasy points. This weekend should be no different. And Baker Mayfield should be the primary beneficiary. Tampa only has a 21 implied total, but Mayfield should get high volume as a 6.5-point underdog.

Mayfield’s yards per game was higher at home and in wins, but his volume was higher in losses — 282 attempts in nine wins to 284 in eight losses. The Lions allowed the sixth-most passing yards per game in the NFL this season, so we have Mayfield projected at 269.4 pass yards this weekend.

I like this play with Mike Evans who has a 71.5 receiving yard projection. We have him projected at 79.4. The same logic applies.

  • PLAY: Mayfield MORE than 256.5 pass yards

Kansas City Chiefs at Buffalo Bills

Justin Watson MORE than 4.0 fantasy points

This is a long shot (no pun intended), but hear me out. This is gonna be a really cold game where no one will want to throw, but the Chiefs might have to go deep more often that normal as slight underdogs. Marquez Valdes-Scantling led the team with a 17.7 aDOT this season, but Justin Watson was a close second with a 17.5 average. He also had 53 targets to Valdes-Scantling’s 42, so when we think of the Chiefs primary deep threat, we should be thinking of Watson to get it done in one play before Valdes-Scantling.

Projected by PrizePicks for 4.0 and Rotogrinders at 4.8, we can hit this on a one short TD or one long bomb.

This is certainly not a core play because of the obvious fragility. But in PPR scoring, Watson surpassed four fantasy points in 10 games, so it isn’t stupid, either.
