PrizePicks – one of the most popular DFS pick’em sites – provides player projections for NFL games every week. It is then up to us to decide whether a player will ultimately exceed or fall short of those projections in the games. With a huge roster of players available from which to choose, we just need to make a minimum of two picks to build an entry.
I’ll break down the board by looking at factors like usage, projected game flow, lines in the sports betting market, and of course, our RotoGrinders projections to forecast how NFL players might fare in categories like passing yards, rushing yards, and receiving yards. Steelers vs. Browns NFL PrizePicks Predictions
Here are the Steelers vs. Browns NFL PrizePicks predictions for Thursday Night Football:
Jameis Winston Less Than 34.5 Passing Attempts
While it might not feel comfortable, our projections indicate this pick has a notable edge of 5.78%.
We all know by now that Winston is naturally an aggressive passer, but the forecast from our NFL weather expert, Chief Meteorologist Kevin Roth, suggests adverse conditions are looming tonight, which could potentially lead to fewer passing opportunities. Poor weather often leads coaches to opt for a run-heavy game plan, and that aligns with the data-driven insights from our projections team when it comes to how often Winston might throw tonight.
Russell Wilson More Than 27.0 Passing Attempts
Although a bit counterintuitive to the analysis from above, Wilson attempting more than 27 passes comes in with an edge of 4.32%.
Perhaps more notable than the weather forecast for tonight is that Wilson has thrown at least 28 passes in each of his 4 starts this season. So even though the weather forecast may predict challenging conditions, Wilson’s demonstrated ability to adapt and maintain a steady passing game during his time in Pittsburgh suggests he will continue this trend tonight against the Browns.
David Njoku Less Than 4.5 Receptions
Not only does this play correlate nicely with the Winston pick, but it has an edge of 3.35% according to our projections.
Njoku is a reliable target, and he has even surpassed this number in each of the last 5 games. But if we are playing for fewer pass attempts from the Browns, this does make logical sense. Let’s not forget that the Browns have this guy named Nick Chubb in the backfield too.
