What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
Moneyball16: Large-field GPPs – In terms of pure value, I think looking to go stars and scrubs might seem like the way to go, but I think making good stacks with the expensive skaters is more difficult than it seems. Nikita Kucherov and David Pastrnak are good value, but they can go off and have the goals and assists on their points spread out evenly among their teammates. Nathan MacKinnon is a worse value and has a worse matchup than those two. With Jack Eichel, his most obvious stacking partner is normally Mark Stone, but last game, they had success splitting them up. So, I think dropping down to mid-priced stacks might be more the way to get better correlation and roster players with lower ownership.
boggslite: Large-field tournaments – The pricing appears tighter than we are used to seeing, making it more difficult to jam in the stars with quality secondary stacks. This should keep ownership in check but will likely force me to target mini stacks or to punt at defense when building my lineups.
Joda: Large-field tournaments are my preferred format on this slate. I expect ownership to condense around Tampa Bay, but grabbing all 3 of the top line is not easy. It is also not necessary, as Tampa Bay’s lines are never set in stone, with Nikita Kucherov getting so much ice time compared to Brayden Point, Jake Guentzel, and Brandon Hagel. There are some unique ways to build around Kucherov with cheap guys, like Darren Raddysh and Mitchell Chaffee, who are operating on the team’s top power-play unit. Another team I like is Boston, who has benefited from David Pastrnak playing like an elite player again.
