What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
Moneyball16: Large-field GPPs – One strategy I am more likely to use is to lean into playing players from the late games so that I can make more potential changes, specifically when it comes to the Avalanche and the Kraken. I am worried that Martin Necas might not be on Nathan MacKinnon‘s line. Also, I think the Kraken will be underrated tonight with a great matchup at home against a Columbus team playing the second night of a back-to-back that is also dealing with a flu going around the team. The issue is that it is unlikely we will know what the Kraken lines will be before the early games lock. So, when it comes to one-offs in lineups with Avalanche or Kraken players, I would prefer those one-offs to be from the late games.
boggslite: I’m playing single-entry tournaments. There’s no shortage of elite talent in great matchups, but Nathan MacKinnon and the Avalanche are my top targets. I’ll likely spend down at goalie, and there are some decent value skaters to help afford MacKinnon, Cale Makar, and Martin Necas in what should be a high-scoring affair in Colorado.
Joda: Single-entry is my preferred format tonight. The Avalanche and Ducks game is the one to watch. The Ducks have looked great, scoring goals for fun, but Nathan MacKinnon and Colorado look like the best team in hockey, and I want to get overweight on their skaters. It all starts with MacKinnon, but there are plenty of ways to build around him, whether it is the high-priced guys like Cale Makar and Martin Necas, Artturi Lehkonen fresh off a 2-goal game, or even a power-play merchant like Victor Olofsson. To save salary, the Blues have several options against an abysmal Calgary team.
Who is your favorite play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?
