NHL DFS Picks: DraftKings Expert Survey for Tuesday, October 6

Who is your favorite skater to spend up for in cash games?

Moneyball16: Auston Matthews
boggslite: Auston Matthews
Joda: Auston Matthews

How do you plan to beat the field of opponents in the tournaments you will be playing? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

Moneyball16: For a big slate like this, there is only 1 team playing on a back-to-back, and a lot of teams are using their regular starting goalies or goalies who aren’t much worse than their starters. I like attacking the underrated home matchups against two big goaltending downgrades. I like Detroit at home vs. a tired Ottawa team that played last night and will likely have Samuel Ersson in net. I also like the Rangers at home vs. the Islanders without star Ilya Sorokin in net. Instead, the Islanders will turn to backup Semyon Varlamov, who is 38 years old and hasn’t started a game since November 2024.

boggslite: Like Joda, I prefer a balanced build on tonight’s slate rather than a stars-and-scrubs approach. It’s still early in the season, and we don’t yet know which teams have improved, so I want to start by picking on the teams we know are bad. Chicago is every bit as bad as it was last year and remains without its top player, so I like the idea of building around St. Louis’ top line tonight.

Joda: I’m leaning more into fully correlated lines than I usually do. The forward spots don’t have a clear smash matchup, and there’s no cheap piece with a real role that screams value the way Ben Kindel did last night. A balanced build makes more sense than the stars-and-scrubs approach you use when Nathan MacKinnon or Connor McDavid come with clear value.

Who is your favorite play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?
