NHL DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Saturday, March 23

Who is your top overall play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?

Moneyball16: Timo Meier – He has a great matchup and correlates well with other strong plays tonight, and Timo Meier looks like Timo Meier again after struggling for his first year with the Devils. He’s getting a ton of shots and is scoring points. Without Toffoli, his role on the wing and on the power play is much more secure.

TastefulTides: Jack Hughes – His price on DK is $1,000 too cheap in my opinion, and he is still wing eligible, so you don’t have to fill a center spot to use him. The matchup is incredibly advantageous. The Senators give up the 3rd-most goals against per game. They also have the 2nd-worst penalty kill in the whole league. Hughes on home ice is my top overall spend-up option, even with the likes of Auston Matthews and Connor McDavid on the slate.

Joda: Timo Meier – Meier has been magnificent in March, with 11 goals in 11 games while averaging 4.5+ SOG per game. In a game where a 6-5 scoreline would not surprise me for either team, Meier’s mid-tier price tag is a building block in all formats. Look for him to stay hot.

Who is your favorite contrarian play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
