NHL DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Saturday, October 14

Who is your top overall play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?

Moneyball16: Cole Caufield – For whatever reason, DK has made him way too cheap to start the season. When you combine the price with the great matchup at home versus the Blackhawks and a plethora of good value from correlated players, you get the best play on the slate.

TastefulTides: Nathan MacKinnon – Despite playing on the road, MacKinnon is still my top play on the board. We are going to be streaming players against this Sharks team all season long. They don’t have any resistance to contain this powerful Avalanche team. If you can squeeze both MacKinnon and McDavid into smaller field or cash game type builds, I am all for that, but for large-field GPPs I want MacKinnon and at least one of Rantanen or Makar.

Joda: Connor McDavid – One can save a little coin by going down to MacKinnon or Matthews, but my money is on McDavid tonight after the Oilers were embarrassed in Vancouver. If the Oilers win this game, it would be surprising if McDavid did not have 3+ points, and we know he will not let up after the opening night disaster.

Who is your favorite contrarian play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
