Slate Overview
We have a bit of an anomaly tonight with nine games and no crazy favorites. The Avalanche are the most favored at -215, although honestly I think that’s too high and probably giving them more credit on name recognition than their performances on the ice lately. I expect we’ll see fairly evenly distributed ownership with no one player getting above 25%, although this could change if we get injury news throughout the day. As of now, there aren’t many significant injuries to monitor, with only Valeri Nichushkin’s and Chris Kreider’s status carrying any fantasy relevance.
As always, I’ll plug the RG NHL Discord for any news, but I have something else to pitch. Come join the #Squad-rides channel as we sweat along with a single bet as a community. You can read the rules in the Discord channel, but last night was my night to have the selection, and I don’t think I’ve ever had so much fun sweating a bet. Tyrese Maxey over 25.5 points was the bet, and it wasn’t looking promising for the majority of the night. He finally hit a three with a few minutes left and the channel went nuts. Hop in and join the fun.
Now back to your regularly scheduled programming. Ladies and Gentlemen, the Slate Summary.
Top Skaters
Artemi Panarin
DraftKings $8,700
I know I sound like a broken record continually putting Panarin here over and over again, but he still doesn’t seem to be getting the respect he deserves. This is true for Vegas odds, which also feed the majority of projection systems, so he is constantly not projecting well, leading to low ownership. The other night my biggest stand was Panarin (5%) over the identically-priced Rantanen (20%+). Panarin did his usual thing with 27 DK points while Rantanen had 1.5 points in 27 (!!!) minutes. Anyways, that’s enough bashing of Rantanen. Panarin is up to 11 points in his last 6 games, including three multi-point games during that span. He’ll face a Capitals team that has allowed 19 goals in their last 4 despite a few of those coming against teams that aren’t exactly offensive juggernauts. This could all lead toward another multi-point, slate-altering performance from the “Bread Man” tonight.
