NHL DFS Playoff Primer: Wednesday August 19th
Carolina Hurricanes @ Boston Bruins
What a devastating loss for the Hurricanes. They were up 2-0 in the 3rd Period with a chance to even up the series. They allowed four goals in a seven minute span and weren’t able to recover. The Hurricanes will likely be their star playmaker Andrei Svechnikov for another game. He’ll like be replaced by Jordan Martinook at even strength, and Justin Williams on the power play. Both are serviceable value plays, although Williams is the preferred option. Sebastian Aho has been surprisingly quiet this series, as Boston appears to have made him the priority to stop. He doesn’t have more than two shots on goal in any game this series, which severely limits his upside. Dougie Hamilton hasn’t been eased back into things after returning from injury, wtih 24+ minutes in all four games this series. He has 14 shots on goal in his last three games and also picked up the blocked shots bonus in Game 3. I have him as the second-highest projected raw points for a defenseman and can be played as a one-off or as part of a Carolina power play stack. There’s some uncertainty as to who will be in goal on Monday for Carolina, but I don’t have a ton of interest regardless.
