Week 9

Let’s see…

The three running backs that I tagged as Expert Plays (Tier 1) in Week 8 were Derrick Henry (39 FPs), Alvin Kamara (43 FPs), and Tony Pollard (37 FPs). There’s no way to mess up from there, right? Don’t you worry, I found a way to do it. I decided to play Pollard on both sites and then I split Henry and Kamara on my DraftKings and FanDuel lineups. I avoided Kyle Pitts after playing him all season and I avoided D.J. Moore due to the high ownership and volatile nature of the Panthers offense. This all led to a very sad time while opening up the DraftKings and FanDuel apps. I hope many of you played those three and coasted to a nice Sunday.

Speaking of checking contests, am I the only one that doesn’t check how my lineups are doing until after the games have finished? I have a general idea because I’m obviously tracking how all my players are doing, but I like to feel that my lineups have a fighting chance until the final play of the final game. I have also learned that this helps avoid the massive tilt of seeing your lineup at the top of a tournament at some point throughout the slate only to watch your currently winning slowly go down and down. NFL DFS is a wild and stressful ride every Sunday, so finding a way to eliminate some of the tilt has been a positive for me.

Quarterback

Tier 1 (Expert Plays)

There are really only two expensive options at quarterback this week, so many will be tempted to take the cheaper route and spend up on the skill position players. However, Allen is such a difference-maker at his position that I can’t stomach the fade. He has averaged 30.1 DK / 28.1 FD points per game, which is a full five points higher than the next closest quarterback on the main slate. We often worry about quarterbacks that are large favorites, but the Bills don’t like to take their foot off the gas and Allen is responsible for such a high percentage of their touchdowns. The Bills have the highest implied total on the slate, as they square off against the Jets.
