Notorious' NFL DFS Core Plays: Week 2
First off, I have to apologize for my late update to the core plays. I originally wrote it late Saturday night, but posted it to the draft version of this article (which obviously can’t be seen by anyone but myself). Thanks to a few of you on Twitter, I realized my mistake about an hour before lock and posted the update. Now, the good news is that the update bumped Marvin Jones and Boston Scott up to core plays. If you missed out on the update, it was actually a positive. Moving forward, I will make sure to post the update to the right version of the article.
After the first three quarters of the morning games, I didn’t think my main lineup had much of a chance to cash. It was one of those rare weeks when almost all of my fantasy production came within a span of 20 minutes. Mitchell Trubisky fired three touchdowns in the fourth quarter, Christian McCaffrey salvaged his fantasy day with his second touchdown, and Adam Thielen grabbed two touchdowns and got the 100-yard receiving bonus. I went from well out of placing to well inside the cash line. I hope all of the premium members here at RotoGrinders were as fortunate as I was.
As noted last week, Week 1 is the best week of the year to avoid groupthink and to be contrarian. We think we know these teams and these systems, but we really don’t. Week 2 is all about not overreacting to what we saw in Week 1. There are certainly some trends from the first week that will stick over the course of the season, but there is a lot that happened in Week 1 that won’t continue moving forward. With so many experts around the industry quoting the same statistics from Week 1, many DFS players will flock to similar plays in Week 2. Similar to last week, I will give four core plays that I like in all formats and two conviction plays that I like in tournaments.
