Notorious' NFL DFS Picks - Core Plays: Week 7

Want to know who you should build your NFL DFS lineups around each week? Derek “Notorious” Farnsworth, one of the most legendary daily fantasy sports players around, will focus on his core picks in this weekly in-depth feature for Premium subscribers.

Week 7

I’m not going to lie, I haven’t been looking forward to writing this week’s introduction. Being honest and transparent goes a long way, which is why many of you have read my content for so may years. There is no kind way to say this — the core plays were hot trash last week. More like snore play, bore plays, tore up your lineup plays, four plays to kill your bankroll, more plays to ruin your Sunday, and perhaps the best description — poor plays. To quickly recap, Leonard Fournette, Le’Veon Bell, DeAndre Hopkins, Dede Westbrook, and late-add Malcolm Brown were all let downs in Week 6. Consequently, it was my worst week of the season. It absolutely should have been, because every week I target the players that I recommend here in this article.

I loved the introduction to this week. It was honest and transparent and you could feel the frustration in those words. Made me an even bigger fan of yours.

Dude you suck!!!! Haha and lol. I am just kidding. We all know its not easy. If it was, we wouldn’t be here reading your content. I think most of us see things pretty similarly and come to these sites for reassurances of what we too see and sometimes pick up some nuggets that we may have missed. You were not the only one who was wrong on those picks last week. I think we all had Leveon last week. Who would have thought the Jets win so easily and he gets that little production relatively? I always enjoy your content.

Looking forward to a great bounce back this week! Good picks!….. with the DEF spot having been a slate breaker a few times this year, is this something you’d consider adding to your article?

  • kennylogginz

Wow what a great and interesting core. 4 of the highest projected owned players. Sharp stuff.

  • maaron83

you want to pick the players who will get the highest points… high ownership or not

First i do really enjoy this article by Notorious every week. It’s not an EASY job.

With regard to the quote above ….a i agree, i look for … like “Sure Things” ..

The RB position seems pretty easy this week. I mean You got Fournette, Barkley, Carson, Cook , and Johnson (Johnson has injury risk but high floor/high ceiling) then you also got Jacobs who is sneaky. For Cash and Tourney’s!

Det RB hasn’t produced a VERY good game all year i wouldn’t consider him outside of tourney Flier. I’m sure a good game is coming …..who knows when ….don’t care if i miss it. Ditto Hopkins and J Jones …they are not nearly as consistent as years passed. They have killed tournaments all year and at their salary’s even if they have a big game they still won’t be more than “x” Value. I’ll fade em for mid range guys most of the time. I’d look for Target share approaching 30% each week (and at least 9 projected targets minimum) at WR position w a good matchup and NOT a huge favorite
Those Receivers who fit the bill off the top of my head are….

Boyd, Brown (Buff-*big favorite thou) Chark, Kupp, Hilton, M Thomas, Fitzgerald (if Kirk Sits), Waller, Andrews (if M Brown sits), Gallup (hoping an injured A. Cooper suits up and gets defensive attention) Majority of those guys are 5600-6600 on FD w Thomas and Kupp being higher priced and likely i’d fade them in cash games as i’m paying up at RB as most will do

MY convoluted point …the Value of this article is diminished without a clear distinction of picks being Cash only , tourney only or both. I always try to find sure things that are cash play locks AND Tourney core plays….Obviously in big tourney’s you gotta have a player that is low owned…..but i certainly would Not try to hand pick more than two of those in one lineup.

Multiple weird complaints. It’s advice, not must plays. Read/study/listen and then make your own decisions. Sometime you’ll be on the advice, sometimes not. Love NOTO. Reason it’s a career for him and not us.

    It’s gambling. Expect to lose

  • podunker

First off…thank you for all you do Noto

You are a true class act and one of the most transparent guys out there. Love your stuff every week, and it saves me a lot of time.

You don’t need to apologize for your core plays last week, there was sound reasoning for picking them, and most people did.

You are part of my process each week, along with some other guys I like, then I integrate it all and make my decisions. Thats the way anyone who is halfway serious should take this, just as a part of the process.

Once again, thanks again. (By the way, Edmonds looks for real, if DJ doesn’t go, he looks like a must play)

If i had the magic recipe to pick out the defense that puts up 30, I would definitely share it here. I’m much better at picking the defense that scores 4 FPs.

This week’s core features some chalk, so make sure to fill out your tournament lineups with some lower owned plays. Be smart with your contest selection and build correlation into each lineup.

    Good luck good luck!

  • rockstar626

As mentioned, If you guys havent seen headchoppers thought breakdown on his milli win this year, watch it. He started with a solid core and mixed in solid plays. Chalk is in every winning lineup every week. Thanks for the great read Noto. Good luck!

  • sdsuphilip

Jacobs and Saquon is my favorite combo in GPP’s, neither ownership will be crazy. Fournette/Carson are obvious plays but will have crazy ownership, i’m not saying fade them but mix them in more

After checking my lineups we are definitely thinking the same this week. I hope that isn’t bad for you!

DId I read “Giants” have weapons as a reason to fade Engram in favor of a team that likes to run with Lamar & Ingram? Are they not weapons? What weapons do Giants have?

Meant more weapons in the passing game — Tate and Barkley both soak up targets. Without Brown for Baltimore, it’s basically just Andrews. But again, love both Engram and Andrews this week.

  • dfszone007

Pick 1979 hit it on the head…. sorry noto but your core picks have sucked tremendously as well as in PGA…..I’m sure you will get better picks but give more than just one set of picks and give more Info…we losing money trusting you and rotogrinders

  • dfszone007

Engrams sucked ass, so did cupp, I hit it big with Edmonds only 1.4% owned. Matt Ryan sucked, Rodgers was the slate breaker, Kirk cousins did good, cook was the best RB besides Edmonds,….. let’s go noto. I believe in you bud
