DraftKings Sportsbook posts the Philadelphia Eagles as two-point favorites versus the Packers in Brazil. Both teams enter the season as playoff contenders. Who will open their season with a big win in Sao Paulo on Friday night? Let’s break down the sports betting odds and teams before building a same game parlay for Packers versus Eagles.

Packers vs. Eagles Same Game Parlay Preview

Per ScoresAndOdds, we see a large discrepancy between tickets and money bet on this football game. 67% of betting tickets fall on the Green Bay side, while 71% of betting handle rests on the Eagles. The larger bets are riding with the Birds on Friday night, while the trendy Packers could be a public darling to open the season.

For points, we find a similar scenario for the Packers vs. Eagles on Friday night. The public loves the over with over 77% of bets placed on a shootout. At 49.5 points on DraftKings, both teams would need to score in droves to exceed this total. While we don’t see as big a difference with the sharp money, a big downtick at 55% in the betting handle agrees this game should go over.

The Eagles made a big addition to their offense when they signed former rival Saquon Barkley to head the backfield. That said, Philadelphia will remain the Jalen Hurts show. Hurts was the Eagles’ offense to the very end, even as he dealt with nagging injuries and fatigue. The Brotherly Shove was innovative last year as teams continue to copycat the Eagles’ play to far less avail. Will the Eagles give Hurts a break and keep him fresh for the playoffs? Will the presence of Saquon limit the goalline rushes Hurts has present in this offense? We will see tonight.

For the Packers, we get a first glance at one of the most-hyped teams of the offseason. The emergence of Jordan Love and his young receivers has fans and bettors ready for a long playoff run in Green Bay. A huge upset victory in Dallas was the hallmark of Love’s breakout season. Love finished his campaign 7th in passing yards and second in passing touchdowns. He closed the regular season on a tear — logging nine touchdowns and no interceptions as the Packers secured their playoff spot. We expect big things from Love and his young offense in 2024.

The Packers added Josh Jacobs to the fold and then watched injuries toll their running back room. After a disappointing 2023 campaign, question marks about Jacobs’ efficiency and health will rule the day. Yet, Jacobs is the only guy in the room and should receive all the volume he can handle for the Packers. The Eagles were more effective against the run than the pass in 2023. We will see if the Packers abandon the run game early and spread the ball around to their talented receiving corps.

Both teams ranked in the top eight teams in scoring offense last season. Betting sites seem to think that will carry over to Brazil. Will the offenses come out hot? Will the strain of the trip to Brazil slow the game down? Will Jordan Love or Jalen Hurts come out and begin a potential MVP campaign? We have so many questions and only one way to answer them. Let’s build a same game parlay ticket and tune in to tonight’s action.

Same Game Parlay Picks for Packers vs. Eagles

Under 49.5 Points

While the sharps didn’t take the under side, the less enthusiastic 55% of money was enough for me to make my decision. The Packers and Eagles open in another country. They both had to travel. Neither team is comfortable at home. Also, they are likely stricken to their hotels for the entire trip because of the issues in Brazil.

I loved the under on opening night and love it more for this game. With the preseason being shortened and starting offenses hardly seeing any game action together before the first game, I typically lean under in Week 1. With a bloated total, this feels to me like a lot of points.

I like the under enough to bet it straight and will open my same game parlay with this leg. Now, to boost my odds, let’s get creative.

Jordan Love Over 256.5 Passing Yards

In our same game parlay guide, I discussed that one way to improve your odds for a one game parlay is to find negative correlation that is possible. The odds of every same game parlay will be deflated so sports betting sites continue to make their vigorish. When we find a leg or two that don’t match the others, sports betting sites entice us with juicier odds.

That said, if this game is going under, it makes less sense for Jordan Love to go over his passing prop. However, I am betting on the Packers not being able to run the ball effectively. As teams get closer to the red zone and run out of space, punching the ball into the endzone gets more difficult. Being a bit rusty and maybe a few penalties here and there, Jordan Love could accumulate plenty of yards without the Packers cashing in on every drive. This will likely give us a bump to odds.

Saquon Barkley Over 15.5 Receiving Yards

Even though this could be one swing pass, the word over correlates negatively with our under on the game total. Saquon was a big signing for the Birds, and I don’t think it is a great leap to assume he will get fed the football tonight. I think Philadelphia will use Barkley when trying to establish the running game. When that doesn’t work, I think Jalen Hurts will throw the football.

Barkley will have a few designed targets and maybe a couple of chances at a reception on a broken play. I think he gets over this total in his first game.
