NBA Playoffs Round 2 Lineup

rg misc go gata bball

Onto round two! Only eight remain, and the second round of battle gets underway this Sunday and Monday. With so few teams left standing (yet, oh so many Gators), it is a good thing that FanDuel is now including both Sunday and Monday’s games into their contests so that you can build out a full team. Preferably, mine would include the retiring White Chocolate , Mike Miller , Corey Brewer , Al Horford and Joakim Noah – but I have to provide winning advice so I’ll try and leave my bias out of this column. Though there were some early stumbles, the only massive upset was the eight-seed Memphis Grizzlies solidly sending the first-seed Spurs back to Texas. We also saw the Hawks soar-in and knock Superman and my Magic out of the sky :( But all of the true potential champions still remain. With only eight teams remaining, and it being a playoff environment where you are expected to lay it all out on the line, it is getting extremely difficult to find value – even on a site with a loose Salary Cap such as FanDuel. Here I’ve built a $65,000 FanDuel lineup for Sunday and Monday’s contests trying to focus on good matchups, hot players and what little value remains:

FanDuel NBA Playoff Round 2 Lineup

Position Player Matchup Cost Notes
PG Mike Conley MEM@OKC $6,900 In a Gator themed column, it is tough to include a Buckeye, but I have to admit – Conley has been very solid this season and into the playoffs. He kept up fine with Parker, we’ll see how he does against Westbrook, but I bet he matches his price tag at the worst.
PG Rajon Rondo BOS@MIA $7,300 Averaging 2.8 rebounds shy of a Triple-Double vs. the Knicks, Mr. Rondo is back! Look for him to have a field day going against Miami’s weak PGs
SG Joe Johnson ATL@CHI $6,800 It was clear this week that you had to either go with Teague or Taj for Value. With Hinrich out, Teague will start. But I don’t expect much out of him or for the Hawks to give him full reign against the MVP of the league. My money is on Joe Johnson then Jamal Crawfod getting the value-boost in Hinrich’s absence.
SG Kobe Bryant DAL@LAL $8,400 Ankle, schmankle. He’s a safe pick for 30 points, esp. with Dallas having no Shooting Guards at the moment.
SF Kevin Durant MEM@OKC $9,200 Durantula is my MVP pick for Round 2. The Heat and LBJ are going to have strong games, but I think the big 3 will alternate. However, the Thunder will always go through Kevin. The only chance of him not blowing up is…
SF Tony Allen MEM@OKC $6,100 Mr. Tony Allen is thriving in a starting role for the Grizz. He is one of the major reasons Memphis made it to Round 2 without their franchise player, Rudy Gay.
PF Taj Gibson ATL@CHI $5,300 My value pick for the day. I’m not betting on Taj, as much as I’m betting against Teague. I think you have to go one of these routes today. If Boozer winds up playing, I’ll remove Pau, Taj, Conley and Rondo and re-evaluate.
PF Pau Gasol DAL@LAL $8,000 This spot was my last selection of the night, and it went to Pao over Bosh. With Wade struggling vs. the Celts so bad, I think Bosh could have a strong day. But I see Pau’s upside being much higher vs. Dirk, whose defense hasn’t been as strong as it used to be in the past.
C Joakim Noah ATL@CHI $6,900 And finally, Mr. Noah pitted against former ally Al Horford. He’ll be continuing his energetic efforts whether Carlos Boozer is out or not. But if Boozer does sit, Noah could be in store for a very solid day against the Hawks and former Gator teammate, Al Horford.
