NBA PrizePicks Predictions Today

Larry Nance More/Less Than 5.5 Rebounds

The Pelicans have quietly enjoyed a solid season thus far, but it’ll be interesting to see how Willie Green employs his center rotation come playoff time. Jonas Valanciunas is still the stater, but Larry Nance is playing an increasingly bigger role off the bench.

Nance actually averaged more minutes per game in March than Valanciunas did, even without starting a game. The veteran has logged at least 20 minutes off the bench in every game since March 13, and we have the centers projected to each play 24 minutes tonight against Phoenix.

Nance is a nice defender and a good-energy guy, but his statistical contributions are a bit lacking. He’s only averaging around 5 points and 5 rebounds per game in around 20 minutes a night for the season. This matchup is also a difficult one for rebounds, as Phoenix ranks 4th in the league in team rebound rate.

Rayan Rupert More Than 6.5 Points

I’ll forgive you if this is the first time you’ve heard of Rupert. The France product – his name is pronounced similarly to that of Rudy Gobert – was recently thrust into a bigger role for an injury-riddled (read: tanking) Portland team.

Rupert is averaging only 12 minutes per game across his 31 games for the Blazers, but he’s been starting recently with Anfernee Simons, Malcolm Brogdon, Shaedon Sharpe, and Jerami Grant among the players missing from Chauncey Billups’ lineup. Rupert has topped 20 minutes in 5 of the last 6 games, including a 39-minute effort 2 games ago against Atlanta.

The Blazers draw a very difficult matchup on the road tonight in Orlando, but we have Rupert projected to play 30 minutes in that starting role. The rookie isn’t generating a ton of usage for Portland, but 30 minutes should be enough for him to nudge his way to at least 7 points.

Pascal Siakam More/Less Than 0.5 Made 3-Pointers

Pascal Siakam took some time to acclimate to his new surroundings following his trade from Toronto to Indiana, but he’s really settled in of late. Siakam averaged 21.7 points and 9.1 rebounds per game last month in just over 31 minutes a night. That’s a far cry from the 37-38 minutes he’d play on a nightly basis under Nick Nurse in his Raptors days, but at least he’s efficient while he’s out there.

The Pacers get one of the better matchups on tonight’s slate against a Nets team playing for the 2nd time in as many days. Brooklyn’s defense has tailed off considerably as the season has gone on. Siakam still isn’t much of a perimeter threat, but he will take (and make!) the occasional 3. Siakam is shooting nearly 38% from downtown this season on 2.6 attempts per game.

All he’s gotta do is make one. This could be something of a sweat, given Siakam’s reluctance to hoist from deep, but I think we can cash in here.
