NBA PrizePicks Predictions Today

Jonathan Kuminga More/Less Than 5.5 Rebounds

It’s taken a few years, but Jonathan Kuminga is finally living up to the hype he generated when the Warriors made him a lottery pick back in 2021. Through 65 games, Kuminga is averaging a career-best 16.2 points in just over 26 minutes per game.

He’s played his way into a regular starting role for Golden State, though the minutes are still a little unpredictable from night to night. He has topped 30 minutes in each of the last 5 games, however, and we have him projected to log 31 tonight against the Knicks, according to LineupHQ.

The Knicks are a slow-paced, defensive-minded team, and Kuminga still isn’t offering much beyond scoring. Despite being an exceptional athlete with good size at 6’7”, Kuminga is still only averaging 4.8 rebounds per game on the year. The Knicks also happen to lead the NBA in team rebound rate, so this looks like a good spot to bank on a quiet night on the boards for the Warriors’ up-and-coming swingman.

Myles Turner More/Less Than 15.5 Points

I haven’t kept track of the numbers, but it sure feels like I’ve written up Myles Turner in this space more than any other player this season. Let’s go right back to the well tonight. The Pacers will host the Cavs tonight, though this isn’t the same formidable Cleveland defense we’ve seen over the past couple of years. The Cavs will be without Evan Mobley, Donovan Mitchell, Max Strus, and Dean Wade for this one.

Turner is having another strong season, and he’s really come around in the scoring department of late. Turner’s 25.1% usage rate so far in March with Bennedict Mathurin off the floor is a tick higher than his rate for the season (24.2%). He’s topped 20 points in 2 of his last 3 games and 3 of his last 6.

Turner will be a tricky cover for Jarrett Allen, who typically prefers to operate around the rim defensively. Allen is one of the better paint protectors in the league, but Turner’s perimeter-oriented game could give him some trouble in this one.

Deandre Ayton More/Less Than 19.5 Points

Deandre Ayton got off to a ragged start this season. He actually blamed his early struggles on sleeping on an air mattress.

That’s certainly a new one as far as excuses go – especially for a millionaire – but it sure seems as though Ayton has finally found himself a real bed. Through 5 games in March, Ayton actually looks like the guy the Suns thought they were getting when they decided to draft him ahead of Luka Doncic several years ago. He’s averaging 27.2 points and 15 rebounds so far this month while playing nearly 40 minutes a night for the rebuilding Blazers.

The on-paper matchup for Portland tonight against a slow-paced Bulls team isn’t a great one, but it’s hard to argue with the minutes for Ayton these days. With Nikola Vucevic on the other side of this matchup, I don’t see much reason to believe Ayton won’t play a big role again tonight. His usage rate has spiked by 4.6% so far this season with Jerami Grant off the floor, and Grant is expected to miss this game due to injury.
