NBA PrizePicks Predictions Today

Kris Murray More/Less Than 9.5 Points

The Blazers are in Charlotte tonight for what should be an epic tank-off against the Hornets. Portland is only a game ahead of Charlotte in the standings, so this game may actually matter when it comes to draft odds. Both teams have a rash of “injuries” to report. Portland will be without all of Anfernee Simons, Jerami Grant, Toumani Camara, Matisse Thybulle, Shaedon Sharpe, and Malcolm Brogdon.

The rash of injuries means the Blazers will use the remaining games to take a longer look at some young players, including rookie Murray. Keegan’s twin has shown flashes on occasion, but he hasn’t been particularly consistent. Classic rookie. Murray is averaging just 9.1 points per game since the beginning of March despite playing north of 30 minutes per game.

The matchup against the Hornets is a good one, but Murray doesn’t generate much usage. His usage rate is sitting at just 14% for the season. Scoot Henderson, Dalano Banton, Deandre Ayton, and Jabari Walker are all much more involved offensively.

Brandon Clarke More/Less Than 7.5 Rebounds + Assists

The Grizzlies have dealt with an incredible barrage of injuries all season long, but they did get some good news recently when Clarke returned to the lineup following last season’s Achilles tear. Clarke has only played 3 games, but his minutes seem to be on the rise. He logged 23 in the last game after playing 21 and 20, respectively, in his first 2 games.

Even in limited playing time, Clarke has been quite productive. He’s averaging north of 11 points, 5 rebounds, and an assist per game, and we have him conservatively projected for 22 minutes off the bench tonight vs. the shorthanded Bucks.

Milwaukee hasn’t been a particularly good defensive team all season, and they’ll be without several regulars in this one. Clarke’s minutes should be secure enough regardless of whether Memphis can keep this one competitive.

Paolo Banchero More/Less Than 1.5 Made 3-Pointers

The Magic have been a pleasant surprise this season, and Banchero was rewarded with his 1st career All-Star appearance. The former No. 1 overall pick is averaging 22.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 5.3 assists. He’s also importantly improved his marksmanship from beyond the long line. Banchero is shooting better than 35% from 3-point range after shooting south of 30% as a rookie.

Banchero isn’t afraid to let it fly from deep – he’s averaging 4.3 attempts per game – but he’s rarely converting more than 1 of those tries. The Magic also draw a difficult matchup in New Orleans against the league’s best 3-point defense. New Orleans is yielding the 2nd-most attempts per game in the league, yet their opponents are shooting a league-worst 34.7% on them. There’s some luck involved in that stat, but Banchero is still far from an elite gunner from downtown.

I’ll side with the Pels to keep Paolo under wraps from 3-point range in this one.
