NBA PrizePicks Predictions Today

Amen Thompson More/Less Than 16.5 Points + Assists

Amen Thompson has been a revelation for the Rockets since entering the starting unit in place of the injured Alperen Sengun. He began the season as a little-used backup point guard behind Fred VanVleet, but he’s since become a versatile wing contributing at a variety of positions. Despite entering the league as a point guard, Thompson is essentially serving as Houston’s starting power forward at this point.

So far this month, the former 4th overall pick is averaging 12.2 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. Thompson is a capable playmaker, but he’s often spending most of the Rockets’ possession serving as the roll man in pick-and-rolls or operating out of the dunker’s spot. Houston isn’t asking him to do much ball-handling, which limits his assist opportunities.

The Rockets get a tough draw tonight against a Thunder team that’s been among the league’s stingiest defenses on the season. With Chet Holmgren protecting the rim, Thompson could have a tough time contributing much in the scoring department, either.

Gradey Dick More/Less Than 3.5 Rebounds

Let’s talk about another former lottery pick, shall we? Gradey Dick is finally playing a big role for the rebuilding Raptors after spending the first few months of the campaign sitting on the bench. The Kansas product is logging north of 30 minutes per game so far this month, which is a significant hike from his season-long average of 19.5.

Dick is already a capable shooter, but he’s not contributing much else to the box score. Dick is averaging 2.1 rebounds and just 1.3 assists per game for the season. This month, those numbers are up ever-so-slightly to 2.7 and 1.8, respectively. He’s not a particularly physical presence thanks to his thin 200-pound frame, and he doesn’t spend a whole lot of time inside the 3-point arc on either end of the floor.

Tonight, those shorthanded Raptors get a brutal draw at home against the Knicks. Not only is New York expected to get rebounding aficionado Mitchell Robinson back, but the Knicks are also leading the league in team rebound rate. Something tells me Dick won’t be a big factor on the boards here.

Kyle Kuzma More/Less Than 1.5 Made 3-Pointers

The Wizards have taken over the Pistons as the NBA’s primary laughingstock, which, I suppose, was bound to happen considering they decided to build around Kyle Kuzma. Nothing against Kuzma, but he’s not exactly a franchise cornerstone type of player.

Regardless, he’s been able to pile up solid numbers so far this season for the league’s worst team. Kuz is averaging over 22 points per game on 18.7 field goal attempts per game, both of which are career-highs. Tonight, he’ll return from an injury to try and lead the Wiz to a rare win over another rebuilder, the Nets.

Kuz is averaging 2.2 made 3-pointers per game on nearly 7 attempts. The Nets rank near the middle of the pack in terms of allowing 3s, and Kuz should see a full complement of minutes tonight.
