PrizePicks NBA Predictions Today

Josh Giddey More/Less Than 18.5 Points + Rebounds

The Thunder have been thriving all season, and they exited the All-Star Break with an impressive victory at home over the Clippers on Thursday. As is the case with many teams in action tonight, the Thunder will be playing the 2nd half of a back-to-back when they host the Wizards.

Washington is awful and fresh off of a blowout defeat in Denver last night. In related news, the Thunder’s 128.25 implied team total tonight is among the highest on the schedule. For all the Thunder’s success, Josh Giddey has been a weak link. He was benched to start the 2nd half of last night’s game, and he’s only averaging 24.9 minutes per game for the season. That’s down considerably from the 31+ minutes he averaged in each of his first 2 pro campaigns.

I’d expect Giddey to be back in the starting unit tonight, though the minutes are never a certainty. The addition of Gordon Hayward gives Mark Daigneault yet another viable body to throw into the rotation, so I doubt Giddey’s playing time will be any more secure moving forward. Our PrizePicks pick’em tool thinks Giddey is quite likely to finish with less than 18.5 points and rebounds in tonight’s game, even in an advantageous matchup against Washington.

  • PLAY: LESS Than 18.5 Points + Rebounds

Marvin Bagley More/Less Than 12.5 Points + Assists

Marvin Bagley has spent time with both Detroit and Washington so far this season, which means he’s played a part in a total of 4 wins all season. 4! For comparison’s sake, he’s played in 34 losses. Washington is a sizable 16-point underdog in Oklahoma City tonight, and there’s certainly fatigue potential for both teams, with both playing for the 2nd time in as many nights.

Bagley’s filled the Wizards’ starting center role since the team shipped Daniel Gafford to Dallas ahead of the deadline earlier this month. Bagley has been productive in 13 games as a starter, however. The former No. 2 overall pick is averaging 13.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, and just over an assist and a block per game while averaging 26 minutes. Bagley should be fairly fresh for this one, as well, after logging just 17 minutes in last night’s 20-point setback.

Overall, 12.5 combined points and assists really isn’t a lot, especially if the Wizards can keep this game close enough for Bagley to see a full complement of minutes. Frankly, he’s fairly likely to top that figure on points alone. Bagley gets enough usage (21.6%) with this team; just don’t expect his assist total to carry you to glory here. He hasn’t dished more than 3 dimes in any game all year.

Tyrese Maxey More/Less Than 2.5 Made 3-Pointers

The Sixers have had a rough go of late with Joel Embiid sidelined. Philly is just 6-15 on the year without the reigning league MVP after last night’s 14-point home loss to the Knicks. Tyrese Maxey earned his first-career All-Star nod this season, but his offensive exploits haven’t been enough to drag the Sixers to many wins in recent weeks.

Maxey was on his game last night, dropping 35 points in a 40-minute effort. As you would expect, he gets a noteworthy usage boost with Embiid out of the mix. Maxey’s 4.7% usage hike sans Embiid is the highest on the team, and he’s up to 32.7% on the year with Joel on the sidelines. Things won’t get any easier for Philly tonight with the stingy Cavaliers in town, but the 76ers are only 3-point home underdogs.

The minutes and usage are significant enough to make Maxey look like a solid bet to put points on the board, even in a tough matchup. He’s averaging 3 made 3-pointers per game so far in February, and he’s not afraid to let ‘em fly. Maxey took 11 triples in last night’s game, and he’s averaging 7.4 attempts per game on the month.
