PrizePicks NBA Predictions Today

Jabari Smith More/Less Than 26.5 Fantasy Points

The Rockets will again be without Fred VanVleet and Tari Eason as they head north to take on the Raptors in Toronto. The Raps have been one of the league’s stingier defensive teams over the last handful of years, but that’s certainly not the case anymore. Toronto has a defensive rating north of 123 since the beginning of January, though Houston is still listed as a 2-point road underdog in this spot.

Jabari Smith has been hampered of late by an ankle sprain, but he did play a whopping 40 minutes the other night in Indiana. Safe to say he isn’t limited anymore. While Alperen Sengun and Jalen Green will take on leading offensive roles tonight without VanVleet, Jabari has also seen a nice usage boost sans FVV (+2.7%).

Smith is up to 0.92 FP/minute in those VanVleet-free minutes, and anyone capable of playing 40 minutes in a regulation game should be on your radar by default. Jabari has a pretty clear path to topping 26.5 fantasy points tonight against that struggling Raptors defense.

Immanuel Quickley More/Less Than 21.5 Points + Assists

It hasn’t taken Immanuel Quickley long to get used to his new surroundings. He’s playing a substantially bigger role for the Raptors than he was for the Knicks, where he was primarily deployed as a high-usage sixth man. After averaging 24 minutes per game in New York, IQ is logging nearly 32 a night as a member of the Raps.

The Rockets’ season-long defensive rating is impressive, but they’ve slumped a bit following a hot start to the year. Houston’s 115.6 D-rating since January 1 is considerably more pedestrian than their season-long 110 mark.

It’s also notable that the Rockets will be without VanVleet, who’s developed into one of the better defensive point guards in the league despite his diminutive stature. Amen Thompson is certainly no slouch as the replacement, but we know Quickley isn’t afraid to let it fly. His 23.5% usage rate in a Raptors uniform is the 2nd-highest on the team since his arrival.

Jordan Poole More/Less Than 14.5 Points

Ah, Jordan Poole. He was the talk of the league just a couple of years ago as a key cog in the Warriors’ 2022 title run. Since then, however, his career has taken quite a turn. The Dubs unceremoniously shipped Poole to Washington over the summer in a clear salary dump, and his performance so far this season has been lackluster at best.

Poole appeared to hit rock bottom in the last game. On the heels of a miserable 4-point showing against the Suns, Poole was held scoreless in 25 minutes before getting booed off the floor by Wizards fans in a loss to the Cavaliers. Poole is still averaging nearly 16 points per game on the year, but that has to do with volume more than anything else.

Tonight, Poole’s Wizards are nearly 20-point underdogs on the road in Boston against a Celtics team that has been among the league’s best defenses all year. Poole is talented enough to break back out at any time, but it’s hard to have too much faith in him here with his confidence surely at an all-time low.
