Rise & Grind: Thursday, September 29th

Article Image

It’s a joyous Thursday morning and you probably just woke up, rolled outta bed and popped open the Rise & Grind, the daily post for your most favorite fantasy sports.

So if you’ve got some time to kill, let’s go over the occurrences of yesterday’s daily fantasy thingamabobs. This includes the sixth round of The DFS showdown between Team Chalk vs Team Crazy, the winner of the hump day contest and anything and everything in between. Here we go!

The DFS Showdown – Round 6 : Team Cash vs Team Crazy

Can you believe this series actually hit game six outta seven? It’s been a wild competition with a lot of tilting and gut wrenching action, but something tells me that last night wasn’t much different.

Let’s start with the pitching choices.

Both squads slotted in Cole Hamels as their SP1. Cole Hamels scared the organs out of his owners for the first few innings giving up three earned runs super early leaving him in the negatives for at least three of the seven innings he pitched.

He bounced back for a decent performance finishing with six strikeouts with allowing eight hits through seven innings ending his night with a meh 16.85 DK points.

Team Cash decided on Mr. Jeff Samardzija who after giving up an early earned run settled in nicely and owned the Colorado Rockies, racking up 11 strikeouts and allowed seven hits that were spread out up until earning his second run in the seventh inning where his night came to an end. Jeff would round out his outing with a rigid 26.7 DK points, making his owners quite pleased with him no doubt.

Team Crazy went contrarian with Jose De Leon from the Los Angeles Dodgers who got rocked off the mound in just 2.1 innings of work. He got clobbered, giving up three earned runs off of four hits and hitting a batter in the process. He gave up more runs than innings pitched which is usually a recipe for disaster. Jose De Leon struggled to get out of the negatives but sadly finished with -3.55 DK points in a disappointing outing in front of the visiting crowd in PetCo.

The team we saw a lot of in these lineups were from the Texas Rangers. Two of whom had insane games, these cats names are Rougned Odor & Carlos Gomez… yes, Carlos Gomez again.

Carlos Gomez continues his (dare I say it?) “hot streak” at the plate. Last night he put up another crooked number on the scoreboard, stopping at 30 DK and 40.9 FD off of three hits, including a three-run dong and three runs batted in.

Rougned Odor blasted his 32nd home run of the season, totaling his points to 19 DK/25.2 FD.

Here are the complete lineups from last nights fiasco:

What an amazing competition this was, the fans learned loads from it and had a blast watching and sweating out every game with the teams.

I’m sure you guys want to see some reaction now that this battle has come to an end.

Here’s what Team Crazy had to say about the final game between these four sharp DFS minds.

New Face On GrindersLive

GrindersLive is excited to announce a brand new show called Sunday Night Sweats, hosted by the one and only Joey Ingram.

Since FanDuel and DraftKings decided to end their biggest GPPs on Sunday nights from now on, we thought you’d wanna sweat it out with us. We’ll have LIVE programming that follows the scoreboards, interviews the players in contention, all while entertaining and engaging with you, the audience.

Joey Ingram is the host of the popular PokerLife Podcast and has done similar versions of these shows for the World Series of Poker. Joey is relatively new to the DFS game himself, so he is also going to be talking a lot about his learning process of building DFS lineups and also examine many lineups of other top players in the industry.

You can check out Dan’s podcast interview with Joey from yesterday and be sure to tune during the Sunday Night Football game this week.

Thursday Night Football Contest

Before we tell you who won last night’s contest, take a look at what we’re giving away tonight.

Since we’re so stoked that football is finally back on again, we are going to give away a brand new RotoGrinders hat to the person who guesses the first player in the Miami Dolphins vs. Cincinnati Bengals game to score a touchdown.

It could be a wide receiver, a tight end, a running back or even a quarterback if you’re feeling frisky.

Just pop your answer in the comments section below and then sit back and enjoy the game…or scream bloody murder at the person you chose.

Good lucksies.

Rise & Grind Hump Day Contest Winner

Typical me to choose a guy who’s pitching in a rain soaked game as the player to guess how many FanDuel points they score.

Yesterday I asked you to give an educated guess on how many FanDuel points Michael Fulmer will finish with.

The correct answer was 10, making our winner ….

Vanco, who guessed 0 thinking that the game would get rain shortened or postponed.

Congratulations to Vanco on your brand new deck of RG playing cards; please check your RotoGrinders inbox for further details.

Shoutsies to everyone who participated.

Look forward to declaring our next winner first thing tomorrow morning.

Til then…

Peace <3

Is there something else you’d like to see in this column? Questions or comments? Leave them below and we’d be happy to consider them. See you tomorrow!
