Rise & Grind: Tuesday October, 11th
It’s the greatest of mornings. Welcome to Tuesday’s edition of the Rise & Grind, the place you turn to for your daily fantasy fix.
Today we will shine a light on a number of things, such as the brand new Google Chrome extension for DraftKings, a new NHL package waiting for you in the Daily Marketplace, and the second installment of the NFL head-to-head series with Team Chalk vs Team Morning Grind. All of that and some Monday Night Football GPP winners.
Brace yourself, here it comes.
What’s New At RotoGrinders
The RotoGrinders app just got a few new features and you may not even know it. On top of all the alerts, lineups, and news, the app now has an “audio” feature that will allow users to stream GrindersLive shows via the app as audio only. This gives users the ability to listen to LIVE shows on the go without eating the massive amount of data that video consumes.
Here is what the app looks like with its new face-lift:
We will also have all our audio podcasts and GrindersLive replays available for you to listen directly from the app shortly after show completion. If you haven’t already downloaded the “RotoGrinders App”, it’s available in the App Store and Google Play.
RotoGrinders DraftKings Google Chrome Extension Update
Our very own Nicole Valencia, who created this genius tool, has updated her already amazing DraftKings extensions.
Here is a video explaining the new features:
New Features
Cap Space Calculator
Download Cap Space Calculator Here
If you’re wondering how much salary cap space an opponent has and you don’t want to spend time clicking on each player, make sure you have this extension, which will do the calculations for you and display it at the top of your opponent’s lineup. Works for tournaments, too! On the ‘Contests’ page, click on one of your contests. When you are in the head-to-head view (automatic for H2Hs, for other contest types, just click the ‘View H2H’ button), the cap space remaining will be displayed. In a non-head-to-head, click the ‘View 3+’ to go back to the standings and choose another opponent.
I’ve already tinkered with this new feature and it’s a game-changer, especially those who play their cash games mainly in the head-to-head format. Once you figure out who your opponent has left over in the final game, just switch out your player for the block if you’re ahead, and boom, it’s an instant win.
Are you top five in a GPP but there’s someone under you with PMR left? No sweat, find out who that athlete is in seconds, then fiddle from there. Get as much leverage as you can by using this tool and stay ahead of your opponents until the final whistle blows.
Player Exposure
Some updates were made to this extension, so now the exposure percentages will be calculated by starting time. Each different starting time will be a different calculation. New, upcoming, and live lineups will continue to be calculated separately, just like before.
Multi-Entry Counts
In the lobby, when you click on a contest to see the contest details, the entries each user has in the contest will be shown in parentheses to the right of the ‘M’ (multi-entry) icon.
If you don’t have the DraftKings Tools extensions, click — here — to install them. If you already have them installed, they should update automatically, version 1.3 is the latest version. Any of these extension options can be enabled or disabled at any time by going to chrome://extensions and clicking on the ‘Options’ link underneath the ‘RotoGrinders – DraftKings Tools’ extension.
NHL Opening Faceoff – The Daily Marketplace
If you’ve been reading the Rise & Grind, you already know about a few of the awesome packages the Daily Marketplace has to offer. RotoGrinders is excited to announce its brand new NHL Opening Faceoff, the place where you’ll learn what to look for when building those hockey lineups.
What does the package entail?
Take a look:
A Detailed Exploration of DFS Hockey Strategy and 2016-17 Season Preview
Four of the most successful NHL DFS players JayWilly (13th Ranked NHL), MBerkowi (16th ranked), ColinWDrew (30th ranked) and MaxEErnst (104th ranked) have combined talents to offer a comprehensive series of articles that will help you think like a winning NHL DFS player for the 2016 – 2017 NHL season. This group has amassed net profits well over six figures playing DFS and now will share what has made them successful DFS hockey players.
Opening Faceoff includes eight detailed strategy articles that cover a wide range of topics including an Introduction to Advanced Analytics, Cash game, and GPP strategy, and how to transition from MLB DFS to NHL.
Additionally, the package includes in-depth previews of all 30 NHL teams with specific DFS approaches to target for every team.
This package is the perfect refresher to get seasoned players ready for the NHL season and a great introduction for new NHL DFS players that will put you ahead of the competition. While the team previews will get you ready for the start of the season, the strategy articles will provide you with the knowledge and analytic data needed to be successful this NHL season.
Here is a more in-depth look at what the Opening Faceoff package features:
Introduction to Advanced Analytics
JayWilly delves into advanced analytics, expressing complex concepts and stats with ease while indicating their DFS relevance. Jay goes beyond the numbers to show you different things other than players attributes that affect what goes into a winning lineup.

Division Previews
The four experts divided the National Hockey League’s four divisions (Metropolitan, Pacific, Atlantic, Central) and tear apart piece-by-piece the personnel changes, DFS relevant players, and other takes & angles from all 30 NHL squads. It’s basically introducing you to each team, what they went through this past off-season and who will be the ones to look at in NHL DFS this season.
Take a look at a sneak peak of what this section entails.
Evaluating Rookies
Mberkowi takes you through how he evaluates rookie players, both pre-season and in-season call-ups. Guys that you heard of, guys that you haven’t, guys that are relevant, guys that aren’t. It is all balled up into one clean section to get you familiar with all the kids that are gonna be flying up and down the ice or just eating up bench time. Know which rookies will be the next one up in your lineup construction and how to find them.
Below you will see a sample of what this segment is all about.
From there MBerkowi goes on to give you a detailed Shooter Percentage Analysis which utilizes shot data from various players last season to show what could be in store this year.
Next up is NHL Resources, in which the team gives you every link you will need with all the valuable information that will aid you in building a sharp lineup.
Transitioning from MLB
MLB and NHL DFS are the two most similar sports. MBerkowi takes you through the similarities, subtle differences and how to leverage your MLB DFS skills.
Finally, the experts compile all their DFS strategic knowledge and divide it into contest type: head-to-head, Cash games, and GPPs. Showing you game theory, line stacks, and cash strategy so you will be ready no matter what you enter.

The DFS Showdown – Team Chalk vs Team Morning Grind (Crazy)
Welcome to Game 2 of the best of seven series with Team Chalk (1-0) vs Team Morning Grind (0-1). These two teams battled it out yet again the past two days to see whose lineup construction reigns supreme.
This week Team Morning Grind drew even with Team Cash to make the series 1-1 with help from their three-dong tight end Martellus Bennett. Bennett had a career day, snagging three touchdowns off of 67 receiving yards from 6 receptions. While the Patriots were celebrating their utter shellacking of the Cleveland Browns, Team Morning Grind had a few chest bumps when Mike Evans scored his MNF touchdown to bury Team Cash even further and make this victory a little sweeter for the GPP chasers.
The dud for Team Cash was Jerick Mckinnon from the undefeated Minnesota Vikings, who just couldn’t get anything going in their game against the Houston Texans. Jerick was held to just 46 total yards on the day, finishing him with an abysmal 4.6 DK points that plummeted the chalky guys so far down they couldn’t get back up.
Final tally for Game 2 is here:
Final Score — Team Morning Grind – 181.70 Team Chalk – 151.30
Series is now tied at 1-1.
