We’re teeing off for the Rocket Mortgage Classic this week, and the weather looks like it could an issue rain-wise.

As usual in my Golf weather forecasts, we’re focusing more on wind than rain. While rain can halt play if it’s heavy enough, it also helps to soften and slow the course, meaning it helps as much as it hurts. With wind, there’s no helpful side; it’s all negative impact. And the impact can lead to dramatic differences in scoring. My goal is always to try and highlight the time frame with the lightest winds, the time with the strongest winds, and to see if there’s a cumulative advantage for one wave over another. You can then use this to your advantage making your picks on DFS sites and sportsbooks.

Rocket Mortgage Classic Weather Report & Forecast

Round 1 Weather Projection – Thursday, June 29th

Wildfire smoke could be a concern, but I don’t think it’s enough to stop or impact play, so it’ll more likely just be a topic of conversation. Outside of the smoke, the weather looks good Thursday, with 5-10mph winds and low chances for rain late in the afternoon and into the evening.

Round 2 Weather Projection – Friday, June 30th

Rain coverage peaks on Friday, with scattered showers and storms possible all day but highest in the afternoon. Winds hold in the 5-10mph range.

Round 3 Weather Projection – Saturday, July 1st

Showers and 5-10mph winds.

Round 4 Weather Projection – Sunday, July 2nd

Again, it’s more rain than wind, but that’s not to say it’s a washout. Just a chance for showers with a 5-10mph wind, slightly higher in the afternoon than evening.

Rocket Mortgage Classic Weather Forecast

As I mentioned in the intro, when it comes to finding a usable and predictable edge for PGA, wind matters a lot more than rain. But in the case of the Rocket Mortgage Classic, there’s no clear wind pattern, just chances for rain Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. A delay is possible any day but Thursday (unless they delay for air quality issues), and there’s no clear way in my mind to use weather for a betting advantage this week.
