If you’re like us, you’ve already been thinking about the match between Tiger Woods-Peyton Manning and Phil Mickelson-Tom Brady. As it turns out, they won’t be the first foursome to tee off for charity this month.

Rory McIlory, Dustin Johnson, Rickie Fowler and Matthew Wolff will team up for a 2v2 skins match on behalf of TaylorMade Golf, which will be aired live Sunday, May 17 from Florida’s Seminole Golf Club.

Taylor Made Driving Relief Skins Golf Match

The quartet of Taylormade-sponsored golfers is ready to hit bombs for the TaylorMade Driving Relief event, benefiting the American Nurses Foundation and CDC Foundation with $3 million. Also, Farmers Insurance will up the ante with a birdie and eagle contest that will send $1 million to help provide meals for healthcare workers.

What are the Teams?

Fowler will team up with Wolff, who is in only his second season on the PGA Tour, taking on an intimidating duo in McIlroy and Johnson.

McIlroy is currently the No. 1 golfer in the world, recording seven consecutive top-five finishes before the global coronavirus pandemic put the PGA TOUR schedule on hold in early March.

His partner isn’t far behind in the Offical World Golf Rankings. Johnson is ranked fifth after a somewhat disappointing 2019 season, at least by Johnson’s standards.

Officially announced Monday morning, the majority of online sports betting sites have yet to post odds for the charity golf match, but it’s safe to say Johnson and McIlroy will be favored.

Oklahoma State Golf Connection

Though Wolff hasn’t spent much time on Tour, he and Fowler are plenty familiar with each other. The two both played their college golf careers at Oklahoma State University, consistently one of the top golf programs in the nation.

A decade apart in age, Fowler and Wolff didn’t play as teammates at Oklahoma State, but Fowler has remained close to his alma mater, making frequent trips to Karsten Creek Golf Club where the Cowboys play and practice, and rocking Oklahoma State’s signature orange in his golf wardrobe.

Who is Matthew Wolff?

Golf betting aficionados and PGA DFS fans know Wolff for his unique swing and long drives, but if you’re new to golf or just a casual fan, then this is probably a new name to you.

During his time in Stillwater, Wolff was the No. 2 amateur in the world and won the Division 1 men’s individual championship before turning pro in 2019.

Would it shock you if I said Wolff could keep up with McIlroy and Johnson off the tee? As an amateur, Wolff averaged over 330 yards at the Waste Management Open.

Wolff used that distance to earn a victory in only his third event as a professional in 2019, winning the 3M Open with a final-round 65 last summer.

Through the 2020 season, Wolff is averaging 310 yards off the tee compared to McIlroy’s 320 and Johnson’s 308.3.

How to Watch

The foursome will tee off at 2 p.m. ET that Sunday, live on Golf Channel and NBC. There will also be a free stream via PGA Tour Live.

Matches like this will help feed our golf betting appetites as we wait for the PGA Tour schedule to resume with what will hopefully be the Charles Schwab Challenge on Jun 11 in Fort Worth, Texas.

We’ll be sure to update you as more US Sportsbooks post odds for the TaylorMade Driving Relief match.
