I Challenge You To A (Scarlet Knight $1000 MLB) Joust!

In case you guys haven’t heard yet there is a new daily fantasy sports site out there. It goes by the name of Daily Joust and it has some of the nicest features that I have ever seen for a fantasy site, much less a site that just started up around a month ago. Joust jumped out of the gates wasting no time in offering a weekly large field tournament to boot. This week that big tourney moves from its usual Sunday first pitch to the bright lights of Friday night. Since I have been playing at the site from its virtual grand opening, it would be my pleasure to share some Joust knowledge.

First off, you’ll notice just how nicely this site is set up. They really make it easy to build your team. If you hover your mouse over a pitcher while looking at the batters it will show you the batter versus pitcher stats right there. That is huge for a grinder to not have to flip back and forth between screens to look those numbers up.

What I have also noticed from a strategy standpoint on this site, is that pitching rules. You cannot afford to have a bad pitching performance while your opponent has a good game from his pitcher. However they do not make it easy as they set the salaries for some of the day’s top dogs at an enormous price. Offense is also valued higher on the site so it makes for some seriously entertaining scoring. There are not too many low scoring, grind it out type games on Joust. There are usually some fireworks. And hey, who doesn’t like a good high scoring game as opposed to a defensive battle?

Here is a little team I put together under the cap for the Scarlet Knight tournament. Take some info from it and I hope it helps. Now don’t worry about Papa Chopper giving away his tourney team. At the affordable price if $10 I am sure to have a few other teams entered in the joust.

Pos Player Game Salary The Deal Sealer
1B/DH Miguel Cabrera Det@KC $93,000 the matchup looks sweet and so does the 10/37 with 3 homers off Davies.Man, Davies is bad
2B Dan Uggla Atl@Phi $66,000 ”WHAT? Chopper you fool! Uggla is going against Halladay”. Yeah I know. But the dude sports a .409 batting average with 3 homers against Roy. Some guys just own other guys
SS Alexei Ramirez CWS v. Min $65,000 Good low salary here for a guy that is 11/30 against his opposing starter. After that killer rookie season this guy was supposed to be the next great thing, I’ll settle for a few points today and be happy
3B Adrian Beltre Tex v. Oak $106,000 Don’t get me wrong, Gio Gonzales is no push over. But Beltre is notorious for slaughtering lefties and has an impressive 7/16,2hr resume against him.Oh and also this guy swings so hard sometimes he falls to his knees. That’s my kind of slugger. Who needs those pesky singles, swing for the fences baby
OF Hunter Pence Hou@Fla $85,000 Mr. All Star. Buried beneath the Astros putrid season is a crazy good hitter who gets a matchup against the horrible Javy Vazquez. Slick price for good BvP and sweet matchup numbers
OF Ichiro Suzuki Sea@LAA $70,000 Every blue moon or so I will get a wild hair in my*** and take a chance with the Orient Express. He is a leadoff guy who gets hits and will steal bases. All points add up. What a like specifically today is the 66 AB’s against Ervin. Hey .364 ba, 9 extra base hits and only 4 K’s in all those plate appearances are great numbers. I am also superstitious, so if he does well then I will be eating a bowl of sushi every time I take him
OF Carlos Quentin CWS v. Min $67,000 This is more of a value pick. Q has been as ice cold as my ex-girlfriend, but the price is right for a matchup with a powderpuff whom he is 10/27 against. Your going down Blackburn…..and take my ice queen ex with you….please
C Victor Martinez Det@KC $89,000 See Miggy Cabrera and substitute 7/19 with 6 extra base hits in place of Cabrera’s stats. Oh man those stats are sexy. I think it moved
SP C.J. Wilson Tex v. Oak $354,000 Like I said, pitching reigns supreme on Joust. I’d love to get Beckett on here, but his price tag is too much for me. So I can live with C.J. His home splits are a little worse than his road numbers, but the Oakland A’s are not exactly a juggernaut

Annnd…BAM! There you have it. Now maybe we can get a bunch of newbies sign up and all play my lineup identically it will increase the odds of the rest of us making money! No seriously though, these guys at Joust have a great product. There are no sharks over there so it is clear to swim at your leisure. I would recommend this site in a Keith Richards heartbeat. Hey if this product is this good to start with, just imagine how much farther they will take it as time goes on. Hope to see all you guys in the tourney tomorrow.
