Super Bowl Novelty Props: Coin Toss, Gatorade Color & More Prop Picks

As the NFL season gets shorter, your betting card gets longer. It just does. You feel the time running out on the year and you get shots up for as long as you can.

Now there’s only one game left. It’s not just the Eagles’ and Chiefs’ Super Bowl. It’s our Super Bowl.

If you’re not betting on the coin flip and other Super Bowl novelty props, what was it all for?!

2023 Super Bowl Novelty Props

The Coin Toss

First things first. Do NOT bet this anywhere that has more juice on one side. It’s literally a coin toss. Both sides are +100 on DraftKings.

Heads has been red-hot. Two straight flips and four of the last five have gone its way. That ended a stretch of four consecutive years of Tails, which ended a stretch of five consecutive years of Heads. It’s a streaky coin!

THE PICK: Heads. Ride it until the luck runs out.

Gatorade Color

Make sure to line shop here. FanDuel has Blue as the favorite at +270, followed by Red/Pink and Yellow/Green/Lime at +350. DraftKings has Orange favored at +350, followed by Blue and Yellow/Green at +400.

Orange leads the way since 2001, splashing down on five coaches. But more recently, Blue has led the way. Four coaches have tasted that sweet, sweet Glacier Freeze since 2015, including Sean McVay last season.

The Chiefs went Orange in 2020. The Eagles went Yellow in 2018.

THE PICK: Yellow. The Eagles are slight favorites right now, and they had Yellow for their last Super Bowl win. Can’t rule out Sirianni the pseudo-Philadelphian opting for Cheese Whiz though.

Jersey of First TD Scorer

DraftKings has Over 11.5 (+110) / Under 11.5 (-140)

Here are the top candidates on each side:

Easy to see why under 11.5 is the favorite; it thins out pretty quickly for the over 11.5 group.

THE PICK: Over 11.5. Fading Hurts doesn’t feel great, but can’t pass up Kelce + a potential Mahomes sneak at plus money. Sanders isn’t a scoring slouch either (tied for 2nd on the team with 11 TDs).

Position of MVP

This is traditionally a QB award and it’s priced accordingly. Quarterback is -650 on DraftKings.

But, we’ve seen two receivers win in the past four years (Julian Edelman in 2019 and Cooper Kupp in 2021).

THE PICK: Tight End. Pass catchers have to thread the needle of a huge individual performance that doesn’t result in an unimpeachable stat line for their quarterback. Stafford had two INTs last year. Brady had 262 yards and zero TDs in 2019. Kelce for 2 TDs + a couple Mahomes turnovers?

Will there be an Octopus? (Yes +1400 / No -1000)

Had to google this when I found it on DraftKings. It’s actually pretty straightforward. An octopus is scoring a touchdown and two-point conversion consecutively (eight points – you get it!).

It’s happened 169 times since the two-point conversion came to be (1994).

THE PICK: Yes. Jalen Hurts leads Philly with 13 rushing TDs and the Eagles’ QB sneak game is unmatched. Love throwing a small bet on Hurts to run one in then go over the top for the 2.

Both Jason Kelce and Travis Kelce to Score 1+ TD Each (+15000 on FanDuel)

Love that FanDuel has this line. They should also post odds for how many times the cameras show mama Kelce with her combo Chiefs/Eagles jersey (O/U 499.5).

I want to take this but just can’t see Jason finding paydirt. Trick plays/linemen scoring is definitely in play, but it’s tricky when we’re talking about a Center and not a Tackle that could sneak out like a Tight End.

THE PICK: Pass. Jason would probably have to recover a fumble in the end zone. Fun bet though.
