Now let’s break down our NFL betting picks for Thursday Night Football.
Thursday Night Football Betting Picks Week 4 — Philadelphia Eagles at Green Bay Packers -4.5, Over/Under 45
If you haven’t seen the viral clip by now, the Eagles have dropped some key passes from Carson Wentz and Eagles fans are not happy about it. The man in the video has a point after 19.4% of Wentz’s passes were dropped against the Lions. In fact, the Eagles offense has played 43 more snaps than their opponents but have only acquired 43 more totals yards. The good news is the Eagles, who have been ravaged by injuries early in the season, believe Alshon Jeffery will be available for Thursday Night Football after missing weeks 2 and 3.
Injuries have mainly take a toll on Philadelphia’s receiving corps and the defensive line. DeSean Jackson is likely a no-go as the veteran tries to recover from an abdominal injury after a monster start to the season. The injuries continued to pile up on Sunday as cornerback Ronald Darby and tackle Andre Lillard were forced to leave the game just a few days after the Eagles were forced to opt for a walk-through instead of a traditional Wednesday practice.
The Green Bay Packers look for their first 4-0 start since 2015. Green Bay has started hot under first-year head coach Matt LaFleur, but not because of Rodgers and the offense. It’s the defense that has been the dominant force through the first three weeks. One explanation for the surprising asymmetry is that the Packers offense has faced three of the top defenses in the league and their defense has faced three struggling quarterbacks (Chicago, Minnesota and Denver). Cheeseheads should find this comforting, though, as the Packers offense should eventually gel with more reps in LaFleur’s new offensive system.
There’s never a good time for injuries, but it’s even less convenient considering the Eagles already sit two games behind the Cowboys in the NFC East. The short week doesn’t help either. Rodgers & Co. get their first shot at a vulnerable defense and I expect them to take advantage of the opportunity. While the spread has largely stayed steady at 4.5, even moving to 5 at certain shops, you can find Packers -3.5 at FanDuel Sportsbook Wednesday morning.
My Pick: Packers -3.5 (use our FanDuel Sportsbook promo code to get these odds)
Thursday Night Football Betting Picks — Player Props
Aaron Rodgers Over 250 Passing Yards- Rodgers hasn’t thrown for 240 yards in a game yet, in part, because the Packers have faced some of the league’s best defenses. The Packers offense is also working to find its identity in a new offense system. While Rodgers isn’t throwing for as many yards or touchdowns as we’re used to, he has improved each game in terms of yards. Rodgers knows he and the offense need to contribute; expect them to pick on the Eagles cornerbacks, who now have only three healthy CBs on the roster following Darby’s injury against the Lions. (use our PointsBet promo code to get these odds)
Davante Adams Over 83.5 Receiving Yards- Speaking of picking on Philadelphia’s cornerbacks, who do you think they’re going to do that with? It didn’t take long for Rodgers and LaFleur to make comments about the need to get Adams the ball more after Rodgers’ favorite target only saw the ball 4 times against the Broncos. Rodgers will target Adams early and often during Thursday Night Football. (use our FanDuel Sportsbook promo code to get these odds)
Thursday Night Football Betting Picks — Game Props at PointsBet
No Defensive Touchdown (-371) – Rodgers doesn’t throw picks and his offensive line kept him “as clean as he’s ever been during a game” despite facing off with Bradley Chubb and Von Miller. If a defensive touchdown is going to come about it will like have to be a mistake on behalf of Wentz and Eagles. I don’t mind laying -371 here. (use our PointsBet promo code to get these odds)

Here are my favorite Monkey Knife Fight props for Thursday Night Football:
Aaron Rodgers Under 274.5 Yards – I like Rodgers over 250 yards but 275 is a big jump. Here’s a good chance to middle Rodgers’ player prop.
Davante Adams Over 86.5 Yards – Adams is in store for a monster game (read above).
