TTT: Tuesday’s Thrilling Team

This has to be one of my favorite parts of the year. The weather is perfect for all of summer’s great activities, the NFL is looking more and more likely to start on time, and the MLB is heating up as teams are gearing up for second half runs to try to make the playoffs. And whenever you have teams making runs for the playoffs, you are going to have trades that impact the fantasy world. The Brewers were the first team to make a big splash by acquiring Francisco Rodriguez from the Mets, but they certainly won’t be the first. Here are a few of the latest trade rumors and their potential effects on fantasy:
Carlos Beltran – Beltran has openly admitted to be willing to go to the Boston Red Sox. He reported that he would waive his no trade clause if a deal could be done. The Phillies, Giants, Tigers, Brewers, and Braves are also interest in Beltran. Beltran is a big bat that could potentially lead a team into the playoffs.
Ubaldo Jimenez – Ubaldo is a very hot item on the trade market with many possible suitors. The two that seem the most likely are the Reds and the Yankees. A trade for Ubaldo would certainly improve his fantasy appeal, especially if he went to New York. Not only would he get better run support, but he would no longer be pitching half of his games in Coors Field.
Aaron Harang – The Detroit Tigers are interested in the Padre’s Aaron Harang who has had a very nice season. He could really bolster that pitching staff and would certainly get much better run support than he had in San Diego.
Hunter Pence – Pence is also a name that has come up a lot in trade rumors. The latest rumor is that the Phillies are interested in acquiring the young stud. The Phillies have plenty of pitching, if they could get another bat, they would be the team to beat.
Drew Storen – The Nationals are open to the possibility of trading Storen. With a young team that is only a couple years away, you would think they would want him to be a staple of this rebuilding process. But if he does get traded to a contender, he will be a good option at reliever every night.
I’m excited to see which moves will be made and how it will impact all of us daily fantasy players. But before any trades are made, I have made a killer team for tonight. In case you are still putting your team together, here are some good options for tonight:
| Position | Player | Salary | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| C | Joe Mauer | $5,217.00 | Joe Mauer is back! Take him at this price while you can. |
| 1B | Derrek Lee | $4,954.00 | Lee is one of those guys that you love to take because of his cheap price tag but often time he ends up with negative points. That won’t happen tonight. |
| 2B | Gordon Beckham | $4,890.00 | How can you not love this kid? It doesn’t seem to matter who he faces, he always produces. |
| 3B | Evan Longoria | $5,703.00 | Bartolo Colon seems to have lost whatever was making him pitch so great earlier in the season. Longoria is in line for a nice night. |
| SS | Asdrubal Cabrera | $7,791.00 | Asdrubal is on a tear and faces Liriano. Lifetime he is 11/19 against him. |
| OF | Alex Rios | $3,830.00 | Rios is dirt cheap and faces Danny Duffy, I like it. |
| OF | Carlos Beltran | $8,325.00 | You are not going to believe his numbers against Lohse: 20/37, 4 HR, 12 RBI’s, and 9 BB’s. |
| OF | Nick Swisher | $6,015.00 | I keep waiting for Swisher to shine ever since A-Rod went down. He is batting 5th and should hopefully be able to get something going tonight. |
| U | Paul Konerko | $8,855.00 | Konerko faces the lefty Danny Duffy. Combine a struggling lefty and a hot bat and that’s the recipe for a big night for Konerko. |
| U | Michael Young | $6,198.00 | Anytime you can get Michael Young for 6 grand against so so pitcher, take him. |
| SP | Anibal Sanchez | $12,049.00 | Sanchez is usually always good at home and faces the lovely Padres lineup. |
| SP | Michael Pineda | $12,678.00 | Only 3 Blue Jays even have a hit against Pineda. Look for him to have a big game against a lineup without Bautista. |
| P | Huston Street | $2,660.00 | I think this will be a low scoring game with Ubaldo getting the win and Street coming out for the save. |
| RP | Madison Bumgarner | $10,708.00 | The Giants pitching staff are putting up insane numbers, no reason for it to not continue tonight. |
As always… Good luck everyone!
