Underdog Fantasy Debuts New Pick'em Game for NBA Finals
The NBA Finals matchup between the Boston Celtics and the Dallas Mavericks may stretch to 7 games, but no matter what happens, Underdog Fantasy is debuting a DFS pick’em contest that goes all the way to 8.
At noon on Tuesday, the company is launching a pick‘em contest where contestants can pick up to 8 higher/lower selections.
The catch that separates this game from the pack? It’s an automatic flex, as players can lose up to two of their Underdog Fantasy picks and still either win money, or lose less.
Currently, players can choose to flex once they get to 3 picks, but doing so reduces the potential payout if you get all the picks right.
But for the “pick 8” product, it’s an automatic flex. Kind of like insurance.
Pick 6 higher/lower and get them all right, the payout is 25X. Get 1 wrong, the payout is 2.6X, and get 2 wrong, the payout is .25X.
Pick 7 and get them all right, it’s a 40X payout, with a 2.75X and .5X payout for getting 1 or 2 wrong, respectively.
Go all the way with 8? It’s an 80X payout if all correct, a 3X payout with 1 wrong, and a 1X payout with 2 wrong.
This style of play is being offered only for the NBA Finals. Consider it a trial, with an Underdog spokesman saying many different pick’em products are in the pipeline.
“This is driven by what we have been hearing from customers — that they want the chance to make more picks. So we listen and try give them features they want,” said Underdog founder and co-CEO Jeremy Levine.
“We have the Flex in place, so even if they get some players wrong, they’re still winning. We’re really eager to see how customers like this during the NBA Finals.”
