Happy Friday, everyone! It’s a huge day of baseball, with every single team in action on Friday, August 30th. There’s a massive total in Coors Field as the Orioles travel to Colorado, and the New York Yankees and Mets rate out as the other top offenses on the slate. Blake Snell headlines the top pitching options, but he also came back to Earth in a big way in his last start. With 15 games this evening, there are plenty of strong Underdog Fantasy MLB predictions to choose from.
First, I’ll break down my favorite Underdog Fantasy MLB plays of the day; then, you can find a few more suggestions (pick only) at the bottom. You can also check out our Underdog Fantasy picks tool. Let’s get to it!
Top Underdog Fantasy MLB Picks Today
Anthony Santander – Higher Than 1.5 Total Bases
The Orioles have the highest implied run total on the slate by a fairly wide margin, sporting a very high projection as the only team above 6 runs. Santander has absolutely demolished LHP this season, with a whopping .281 ISO. Opposing pitcher Austin Gomber has given up a 48.5% hard-hit rate to righties this season, and Santander projects for 2.49 total bases in our RotoGrinders projections.
- MLB PICK: Higher Than 1.5 Total Bases
Gunnar Henderson – Higher Than 1.5 Total Bases
Sticking with Baltimore, I love me some Gunnar tonight. He’s still been very good against LHP this season (.220 ISO), while Gomber has been equally bad against lefties. Coors Field is the best park in baseball for extra-base hits, and Gunnar projects for 2.57 total bases in our RotoGrinders projections. He projects even better than Santander, yet on Underdog Fantasy, his 1.5 total bases pick has a better payout than Santander’s does.
- MLB PICK: Higher Than 1.5 Total Bases
Francisco Lindor – Higher Than 1.5 Total Bases
The team in the next best spot behind the Orioles is probably the New York Mets. They get a massive park upgrade going from their home stadium to Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, and opposing pitcher Jonathan Cannon has been abysmal against lefties this season, with only a 14.6% K% while giving up a .232 ISO. Lindor is the top lefty on the team and projects for 2.43 total bases in our RotoGrinders projections. Even if he doesn’t get to Cannon, Lindor’s switch-hitting ability will help him get there in the later innings against the White Sox’s terrible bullpen.
- MLB PICK: Higher Than 1.5 Total Bases
