Vanek's Views: DraftKings NFL DFS Picks for Week 2

Bengals wide receiver Chase

Using his experience as a former scout and staff member at Central Florida under Josh Heupel, Jordan Vanek takes an in-depth look at the upcoming NFL DFS main slate on DraftKings for Week 2. Formerly of The 33rd Team and 4for4 Fantasy Football, Jordan’s deep dive into the best stacks, running backs, wide receivers, and tight ends is a must-read before you start building your lineups.

The Sunday Night Football game between the Ravens and Bills had me asking myself: why do I root so hard for the Panthers on Sundays when Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen exist and play football like gods? That’s one of the main things I took away from Week 1. But really, I can’t wait for Week 2 – we’ve got awesome matchups on deck and plenty of overreactions from the field to take advantage of. Early in the season, defenses are usually ahead of offenses, and it takes a few weeks before everything syncs up.

Looking back at Week 1, I’ll own the mistake of believing in the Dolphins, was happy to fade the Bengals offense, am looking forward to getting more exposure to Michael Penix Jr., and can’t wait to see this Rams passing offense in a matchup where they’ll be forced to perform. There are actionable takeaways here, and they lead me directly to my main stack of the weekend.

The edge in Week 2 NFL DFS is figuring out what’s real and what isn’t. That’s what this article is about – pinpointing what is believable from Week 1. With our NFL DFS projections and projected ownership, we can spot the leverage opportunities. I’ll also say I came away very impressed with the Jets offense, and at the end of the article, I’ll touch on the Steelers and where I’ll be planting my flag this weekend.

NFL DFS DraftKings Picks: Top Stacks, RBs, WRs, & TEs for Week 2

Game Stacks

Josh Allen ($7,100, QB, Buffalo Bills)

Josh Palmer ($4,400, WR, Buffalo Bills)

Breece Hall ($6,200, RB, New York Jets)

Buffalo Bills QB Allen

Aaron Glenn brought his man-coverage scheme with him to the Jets, and that means Sauce Gardner will travel with the opposing team’s top WR. In Week 1, the Bills showcased Keon Coleman as that guy – but from a DFS perspective, that’s not ideal. Gardner will force Coleman into contested catches, which he can win, but it caps his efficiency. Instead, I want exposure to Palmer or Khalil Shakir ($5,500). Per Fantasy Points, Palmer was the better separator against man coverage, and he even made some strong plays for Allen last week. It’s also worth noting that when Glenn was with the Lions last season, he wasn’t afraid to man up against Buffalo – Allen responded with 362 passing yards, 2 passing TDs, 68 rushing yards, and 2 rushing TDs. This is a massive ceiling spot for Allen.

The way this game truly shoots out is through the run game. The Jets’ offensive line looked dominant last weekend, and Hall looked as explosive as he has since entering the league. They’re a dangerous group on the ground, and while the Jets aren’t ready to contend for titles, this is the first time I’ve seen them establish a real identity. For DFS, Hall is the piece that pushes Allen into a big-game environment.
